Colin O’Hara – Penn State Harrisburg (Soccer)
Major: Civil Engineering
Reasons for choosing Penn State Harrisburg: “I wasn’t considering any other schools. I was actually going to just not play soccer in college and go move to Florida Atlantic University, but my dad signed me up for an ID camp. I did the ID camp, I got offered that day, and I decided to take this spot."
What was the progression that led you to competing in soccer at the collegiate level? “I knew deep down I didn’t want to quit soccer, but I was on a team I wasn’t getting the looks I wanted, so I didn’t have the colleges that had my major looking at me. I thought I was going to be playing soccer on the beach and playing foot volley. This was a really good opportunity I had. It lined up perfectly. I’m grateful my dad signed me up for the ID camp because I really didn’t think it was going to happen.”
Coach Scott Lancaster says: “First and foremost, he’s a leader and he led our team throughout his entire senior season. He brought everything together for us, and that’s a true sign of a leader, but he also led us to probably our best season in over a decade, so that tells you a lot about Colin. Everybody respected him, and he was truly a leader. He was a top goal scorer – he has a lot of speed on the field. He was a difference maker, and that was a big thing for us, but as a captain, he did lead us.”
