Trey Sajeski – Binghamton University (Baseball)

Major: Undecided (Economics)

Final list of colleges: Binghamton, Quinnipiac, Iona, West Chester, Fordham, Fairfield.

Reasons for choosing Binghamton: “Great academics, awesome coaching staff, brand new baseball facilities, medium-sized enrollment and great recruiting class.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in baseball at the collegiate level?  “When I broke my arm in eighth grade, I missed the whole season, and it fired up a spark in me. It made me realize how much I love the game. My recruiting process started when I switched club teams after my sophomore season. The first school I talked to was Fairfield University, which I had many calls and a visit with. Throughout the process, I talked to a number of D1 and D2 schools, but ultimately fell in love with Binghamton.”

Coach Greg Paprocki says: “Trey’s an awesome kid. His work ethic is what stood out the most. He really separates himself when it comes to the finer details of things like offseason workouts, doing his mobility work and making sure he’s taking care of his arm. He’s a very focused individual, and that’s why he is where he is today. When I first started coaching Trey, he was a young, skinny but hungry sophomore, and by the time he was a senior, he’s a big strong kid, fully developed and had a lot of baseball IQ. Trey really turned himself into the player he is. He’s not the type of kid that just walked out there and was the best one. He really turned himself into a Division 1 baseball player by working hard, so everything he’s getting right now – all the recognition he got – he earned that. That wasn’t God’s gift, that was earned through Trey, which makes him so special.
“Trey had a dominant year this year. He and Chase Ennis were like our 1A and 1B I liked to call them. He had an amazing year. He won first team all-league in the outfield, he won first team all-league on the mound. He led our team in ERA, he led our team in strikeouts on the mound, he led our team in batting average as a hitter. He really had what was one of the most complete years I have seen. I don’t think he’s going to leave with any regrets because he put so much effort into it. He put his heart and soul into the season, and that was the result he got. I’m proud him for the way things went. When he heads off for Binghamton, I’ll be happy with the way things went. He’s a great kid, and he left the program in a better place than he found it.”
