Justin Bainbridge – Iona University (Lacrosse)

Major: Business Administration

Final list of colleges: Iona, Wagner, RMU, Manhattan, Stevenson

Reasons for selecting Iona:  “I chose Iona because of the opportunity to play lacrosse for a great coach in New York. Head Coach (Chad) Surman believed in my ability and is a major reason why I chose Iona. I love the location in New York and have always wanted to go to school there. I think the connections and opportunities available in such a big city are endless, and I can’t wait to start in the fall.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level? “I got serious about recruiting my sophomore year when a Hobart commit transferred into PW for his senior year. He helped me figure out what I wanted at a young age and showed me what it took to play a Division 1 sport in college. I always had a dream of playing college lacrosse, but losing my freshman year to COVID really hurt my confidence. However, with the help of teammates and family, I was able to work twice as hard and do what I had dreamed of since I started playing.”

Coach Ryan Bonanni says: “Justin is a unique talent that has been the anchor for the program since his freshman year. He has done everything we’ve asked of him, rarely coming off the field. He has led the team in scoring, played a ton of defense and taken the majority of the team’s faceoffs. While he will be difficult to replace, he has set a good example for future program players to follow.
