Strengths: “Our defense looks very strong in the preseason. The players have been working hard at camp with two practices a day, so they have improved greatly and are gelling as a team. Strong positive senior leadership.”
Question marks: “Many schools that we compete against have indoor club players that play in the offseason which is key to higher level development.. Being a smaller school, many of our players play multiple sports and work jobs on weekends, so do not play Indoor. We have tried to overcome this by developing stick skills and team play in preseason camp. We have focused on scoring since that has been a problem for UM in the past.”
Outlook: “We had a lot of players come out for the team, and they are a spirited, hardworking and positive bunch that love playing field hockey! This certainly fits my coaching personality!! We will be looking for this energy to translate to the game field! I have been relying on the senior leadership to help me in my first year back to coaching in a while. They have team goals which include winning more games than last season.”
