Dylan Walker – Penn State Abington (Soccer)
Final list of colleges: Penn State Abington,
Reasons for choosing Penn State Abington: “I was considering a few schools for academics like James Madison and main campus Penn State. Soccer-wise, I was talking to Immaculata, Gwynedd Mercy, Penn State Abington, but ultimately, I wasn’t talking to too many schools. It wasn’t my plan to play soccer until Penn State Abington. I really liked the campus, and I liked the opportunity that I could stay close to home while I’d still get the college experience. I’ll be in a position where I’ll be able to get some good playing time from the start, so I’ll have the opportunity to continue playing soccer.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in soccer at the collegiate level? “As soon as I got into high school, there was a lot of talk about it, and my club had a lot of programs. I did a lot of the ID clinics and talked to a bunch of coaches, but it wasn’t until late fall or early wintertime that I decided I wanted to play, and I started to have good conversations with my coach.”
Coach Josh Isaacsohn says: “Dylan Walker is just a great kid. He was a captain his senior year, and just his character and his work ethic on the field and the way he would get the team fired up. He was just solid in the back for us – I always knew that Dylan had it locked down when he was there. He reads the game really, really well. It was almost like a couple seconds before a play would happen – he knew what was going on and could run it down and knock down the angles pretty easily. He fought through injuries, he fought through some personal things. I’m just incredibly proud that he’s playing at Penn State Abington, and I just love that he played for us at East.”
