PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Nathan Beighley, Pennsbury – The senior quarterback contributed in all three phases of the game in Pennsbury’s come-from-behind 28-24 win over Neshaminy, a must win that vaulted the Falcons into the 16-team District 1 6A Tournament field. With the Falcons trailing 24-14 late in the third quarter, Beigley returned a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown that made it a 24-21 game and, equally important, gave Pennsbury momentum. He ran for 54 yards and scored on a one-yard run earlier in the game. Beigley also played cornerback and was on the field for a huge Pennsbury stop in the closing seconds of the game with Neshaminy driving for the go-ahead score.
Coach Galen Snyder says: “That (99-yard kickoff) was a momentum switcher obviously They had the momentum there, they were up 24-14, and his kick return not only does it put us within three points, it ignited the team.
“Nate’s our best all-around player, for sure. He plays some defense for us, he made the switch to quarterback this year, he returns kicks. He does a lot of things well.”
