BONUS POINTS THE DIFFERENCE IN 30-24 WIN TO ADVANCE TO SEMI-FINALS

Hershey, PA-The Pennridge Wrestling Team is on the verge of a potential final appearance in the 2024 PIAA AAA Team Championships.  Pennridge out-manned a solid Wislon (West Lawn) squad in a quarterfinal dual here at the Giant Center this afternoon.  Anthony Granite led the way for the Rams at 139-pounds as he pummeled the Bulldogs’ Jameson Mckeown 16-2 to make things all even after four bouts 9-9.  Granite had his way throwing Mckeown all over the mat.  That win, with four other matches won with bonus points, enabled Pennridge to survive the heart of Wilson’s line-up.

Lightweights Kevin McFadden (107) and Colby Martinelli (114) sealed the win for Pennridge with McFadden’s 7-4 victory decision over Trevor Hetzog (WWL) and Martinelli’s pin-fall on Isaac Eidle (WWL) in the first period to move the Rams onto the semifinals.  Talon Hogan had a solid 5-1 win for the Rams at 160-pounds over the Bulldogs Blaise Eidle followed by a major decision for the ‘Ridge’s Ryan Rowe.  Although Wilson’s studs garnered big wins, the Rams held steady with a tough rough-rider approach, winning seven of the contested bouts.  Pennridge’s Sam Kuhns worked hard to get the tech fall at 152-pounds, winning 25-10 to grab an extra-point if needed over Kamron Koch.

Pennridge was tough on top and solid on their feet as they romped through one of the better star-studded lineups here in Hershey.  Now it’s time for the big moment.  Pennridge has a chance to advance to the finals versus Easton from the Valley, to give them a chance at gold tomorrow.  Pennridge will be up to the task, but bonus points (mostly pin-falls) could very well be the difference in this one.  Pennridge has the experience and the star-power to go with the best, so this one will be one for the ages.  Semi-finals start at 7:00pm this evening.  Central Mountain takes on Bethlehem Catholic in the other semifinal after edging Council Rock South 32-27 in their quarter-final dual.
