On Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2023, Upper Dublin seniors Amy Ngo, Brighid Brady and Nora Brady were recognized for committing to continue their basketball careers at the collegiate level.
Nora Brady, Neumann University (Basketball)
Major: Pre Athletic Training
Final list of colleges: Neumann, DeSales, Shippensburg
Reasons for choosing Neumann: “Team atmosphere and the coaches.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in basketball at the collegiate level? “I always knew I wanted to play in college. I started the recruiting process in the summer of my sophomore year by going to showcases and reaching out to schools I was interested in.”
Coach Morgan Funsten says: “Nora really stepped into her role last year as kind of our defensive stopper, and she’s also a great shooter. She continued to play great defense this year, and she’s a great 3-point shooter, so she made some very timely shots.
“Nora was a basketball player who fell in love with the game in the late middle school time frame in eighth grade. She’s been at just about every open gym, practice, camp that you could imagine for us. Last year, she took a huge step and became a very important piece of our team. She was our defensive stopper, she was one of our best shooters, and she became a consistent defender and scorer. It was exactly what we needed as a team. It’s a testament to all the hard work she’s put in over the years. I think Neumann is getting a player whose work ethic is pretty much unmatched and is very interested in continuing to improve. I’m very proud of all the success Nora has had as a result of her hard work. I look forward to seeing what she can do at Neumann.”

What was the progression that led to you competing in basketball at the collegiate level? “I always wanted to play basketball in college, I could just never see myself not playing. My recruiting process started through AAU, and traveling to showcases and tournaments.”
Coach Morgan Funsten says: “Brighid Brady was selected as one of our captains this season, and she really delivered on her desire to be a leader. She played most of every game. She sometimes needed to guard a guard, she sometimes needed to guard a forward, and she made some big-time shots and plays overall. She really had a great season.
“Brighid has followed a similar type of path as Nora. She’s been at everything, she’s got great leadership skills. She’s very positive, and she’s all about the team. She’s worked very hard at her game also. Last year, she started over half the games for our team and played some very, very important minutes for us. She’s a very reliable player, consistent in what she does and brings to the table. She continues to work and has improved. I’m looking forward to seeing the career she has at Neumann.”

Reasons for choosing Holy Family: “The home feel on campus and the basketball program. I just felt like I would fit in really well at Holy Family.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in basketball at the collegiate level? “I’ve always wanted to play in college since I was very young. I think CYO in seventh and eighth grade made me realize that it was definitely a reachable goal for me. Then when I went to the Philadelphia Comets in seventh grade, I was able
to compete in super high level games all summer against teams from all over the country. My recruiting process started in my freshman year after that summer of AAU. I talked to a couple colleges, went on a few visits, and felt pretty good with how recruiting was going so far. Due to my injury sophomore year, everything just took a pause, and I came back pretty much from square one for AAU of junior year. Thankfully, I got in contact with Holy Family, talked to the team and coaches and everything worked out!”
Coach Morgan Funsten says: “Amy Ngo is one of the best scorers in the history of Upper Dublin. After missing a lot of time, she still scored over 1200 points. She made 80 3s this year. She really had a remarkable career, and you’re not going to find a kid that loves the game more than she does and a nicer kid. I feel like the best word to use for her, and I’ve used it a few times this year – she’s just so refreshing. Everything that people complain about with kids these days or anything, she is the opposite. She’s so refreshing. It’s why you can continue to do stuff like this – she’s really a coach’s dream in terms of her attitude, her work ethic, and it’s what you want younger players to see.
“Amy comes from a strong pedigree, and she made an immediate impact her freshman year on a team that basically had three senior starters who had pretty much started for four years. She played a very important role on our team freshman year, and with the graduation of those three big-time seniors, it became a huge responsibility. Freshman year she was able to able to fly under the radar because those girls had already made a name for themselves. It was a little bit of a wake-up call sophomore year when she became the main focus of other team’s defenses. It forced her to grow up. I thought she had a great sophomore year and was really peaking at the right time when she had her really gruesome knee injury. It’s horrible to happen to anybody and especially somebody who works as hard as she does. She’s a team-first, great attitude girl. She’s really the complete package in terms of attitude, leadership, work ethic and skills. This year she was finally physically back to where she was when the injury happened. She wasn’t physically completely there when she came back last year. Holy Family doesn’t have to worry about what type of person they’re getting. She’d be a steal as a person in anybody’s program.”
