Plymouth Whitemarsh seniors Sam Skivo, Caelin Kosvitch & Marissa Perez were recognized for committing to continue their softball careers at the collegiate level.
Caelin Kosvitch – Iona University (Softball)
Major: Biology
Final list of colleges: Iona & Marist
Reasons for choosing Iona: “I like the campus and the coaching staff, and Iona is giving me the opportunity to play division one softball while studying biology.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in softball at the collegiate level? “I have played travel softball my whole life, and I joined a very competitive program entering my junior year of high school. I worked hard and set a goal to play Division 1 softball.”
Coach Mike Perez says: “Caelin is one of the most driven people and players I have ever coached. She sets her goals high and works tirelessly to achieve them. This type of commitment is evident as she set her sights on playing D1 softball and is heading to Iona next year. Caelin is a 3-year varsity member who has made her presence felt on the program. I've been lucky enough to coach Caelin from a young age and am so excited to see where her journey takes her. While our final season together will be bittersweet, I’m so thankful for our time together and can’t wait to follow her success in college.”

Marissa Perez – East Stroudsburg University (Softball)
Major: Exercise Science/Physical Therapy
Reasons for choosing East Stroudsburg: “I chose ESU because I loved the coaching staff and the environment from the minute I stepped on
campus. They have a Nationally ranked D2 softball program with good academics, and it is close enough to home so my family can still come watch me play.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in softball at the collegiate level? “I knew from a young age that I wanted to play collegiate softball. Throughout middle and high school, I realized this was a realistic goal, and I started my recruiting process the summer after freshman year. ”
Coach Mike Perez says: “What a special joy it was to be able to coach Marissa for the past four seasons at PW - in reality, ever since she picked up a bat and ball as a toddler. Getting beyond the “daddy ball” stigma has been a challenge for both of us, but she’s done a tremendous job proving she belonged since day one as a freshman. As a four-year varsity starter, she’s been a great leader on the field and everything you look for in a player and teammate. She has certainly made her mark on the program and set an example for younger players. I’m so excited to be able to continue watching her fulfill her life-long dream of playing college softball, as I know how hard she has worked to get here.”

Sam Skivo – Babson College (Softball)

Reasons for choosing Babson: “I chose Babson because it is one the top business schools in the country, The Wall Street Journal ranked it the 10th best college in America, and I had a very favorable
impression of the coaching staff. I also wanted to go to school somewhere in New England because of its proximity to Boston, Cape Cod, and Vermont.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in softball at the collegiate level? “I always knew I wanted to be athletically involved in college, and as I had continuous success throughout my high school career, it really made me want to continue to play at the next level.”
Coach Mike Perez says: “I have coached Sam in one capacity or another (rec, travel and school) since she was seven years old. To see how far she’s come as a player has been an absolute joy, and I’m so proud of her. She is one of the hardest workers around and deserves everything she has achieved and has coming to her in her future. I have no doubt she’ll make an immediate impact at Babson as a softball player and a student, adding to the school’s great reputation. Sam has been a major varsity contributor for three years now and has made a great impact on the program. While our final season together will be bittersweet, I’m so thankful for our time together and can’t wait to follow her success in college.”
