CB South's Marraccini Commits to Cheer at University of Delaware

On Thursday, Feb. 15, 2024, CB South senior Rosie Marraccini was recognized for committing to continue her cheerleading career at the University of Delaware.

Rosie Marraccini – University of Delaware (All-Star Cheerleading)

Major: Entrepreneurship

Final list of colleges: Delaware, New Hampshire

Reasons for choosing Delaware: “The team atmosphere. The team I’m with now is my family, and if I’m going to be moving far away, I want somewhere that kind of encapsulates that. That was the biggest priority for me because I’ve gone to teams where that wasn’t the case, and that’s everything to me is how well I get along with my team. Winning is obviously a bonus for me, but how well I get along with my team, the lessons I learn, the coaching, the whole atmosphere of it was my top priority in choosing my school.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in cheerleading at the collegiate level? “I guess I always considered it. Ever since I was five, it’s kind of was my whole life. I cheer an hour-and-a-half away, so it’s my entire life. I’m majoring in business to open my own cheer program I always knew I wanted to take it to the next level. I’ve been going to college clinics since seventh grade.”

Coach Steven Brown says: “I have known Rosie since her eighth grade year, and she’s been coming to me consistently ever since then. The determination in her eyes – as soon as she wants something, she will work her tail off to make sure she gets it and doesn’t let anything stand in her way. When she decided she wanted to go to Delaware, she made a decision – ‘I’m going to get a specific skill, and I’m going to keep working on it until I do.’ Her specific skill is a full twisting layout – that’s doing a roundoff into a back handspring in the air twisting 360 degrees and landing back on her feet.”
