CB South's Henson Commits to Play Lacrosse at Holy Family

On Thursday, Feb. 15, 2024, CB South senior John Henson was recognized for committing to compete in lacrosse at Holy Family University.

John Henson – Holy Family University (Lacrosse)

Major: Secondary Education with a minor in History

Final list of colleges: Holy Family, Georgian Court, Marymount

Reasons for choosing Holy Family: “I chose Holy Family because it was local, and 1) I want to stay close to home, and 2) they gave me the best opportunity to play lacrosse next year. I love the campus. There’s a lot of local people who went to South and within the CB area that go there. I’m excited.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level? “Right after my sophomore year – I started on varsity as a sophomore, and I thought to myself – ‘Hey, I could take this to the next level if I work at it, and that’s been my mindset for the past two years is just to impress people and get to the next level.”

Coach Mike Strayline says: “John is a two-year captain really stepped up to lead our defense last season before an injury sidelined him for the second half of the season. Most players would have stepped back, but John really showed his leadership by helping the defense during practices and games. His energy is contagious, and guys really rally around him. He was also a big part of the football team’s success this past fall. John has a bright future, and I’m sure his impact on our team will last for years to come.”
