Kaitlin Calvello – Shippensburg University (Track & Field)

Major: Marketing

Reasons for choosing Shippensburg:  “Ship has won many PSAC championships for women’s track and field both indoor and outdoor. They also have great facilities and a great coaching staff.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in track and field at the collegiate level? “I fell in love with the sport freshman year when I discovered that I was good enough to participate in college I love running and training and being part of a team sport that is also based on your individual stats. I went to Shippensburg Track and Field camp and loved the campus and coaches, which is how I started my recruiting process with them.”

Coach Jason Anderson says“I’m honored to get the chance to speak to Kaitlin Calvello’s storied career here with Quakertown track and field. It’s rare to have such a complete athlete on our team, or really on any team. It came as no surprise that she was awarded Female Outstanding Athlete for the class of 2024 for our school. She can literally do all 18 different events both on the track or in the field. Her primary events are the horizontal jumps, which are long and triple. Athletes are capped at two events indoor and four outdoor which requires lots of choices and long discussions between us coaches and Kaitlin. She can go vertical, she can throw, she is a very good sprinter as well as runs long distance. She has competed in the Heptathlon, and I think we may see her there again at Shippensburg.
“Kaitlin is the epitome of a complete athlete! We have worked together for four years, eight different seasons both indoor in the winter and outdoor in the spring. What a competitor. She has qualified for the postseason all of those seasons over the years. She qualified for Indoor States on the 4x200 relay that won gold at the 2022 Meet of Champs and went on to States to finish in the top 10 in PA. She qualified for 2024 Outdoor States in the Long Jump held at her new university, Shippensburg. Lastly as you can imagine, no one outworks Kaitlin- on the jump runway, on the track and certainly in the weight room. Her strength and power set her apart from not only female but male athletes as well. For example, her chin-ups, without any assistance, reach double digits without any trouble! It was an honor to be her coach and we are proud of her moving on to a great program at Shippensburg.”
