On Wednesday, April 24, 2024, Souderton seniors Madison Byrwa, McKenna Schroding and Makayla Mihelcic were recognized for committing to play collegiate softball.
Madison Byrwa – University of Scranton (Softball)
Major: Secondary Education/History

Reasons for choosing Scranton: “I chose Scranton because of the community and the feel of the school.”
Coach Carol Atkinson says: “Madison was our first baseman. Every time Madison steps on the field, she plays with heart and soul She knows how to make everyone smile and keep spirits up. Madison was our starting first baseman for the past two seasons, She has done a wonderful job on the field. We wish her the best of luck in the future.”

McKenna Schroding – University of South Florida (Softball)
Major: Nursing

Reasons for choosing USF: “I chose South Florida because I got along really well with the coach, and I love the campus.”
Coach Carol Atkinson says: “McKenna was our number one on the mound. She led on the mound with 112 strikeouts and only 23 walks. She had an earned run average of 2.0 and earned second team all-league and second team all-state honors. McKenna was a four-year varsity player. She was a very good leader on and off the field. Mckenna was a key player the last four years and will be missed.”

Major: Respiratory Therapy

Reasons for choosing Gwynedd Mercy: “I chose Gwynedd because of the academic program as well as the coaching staff and the team.”
Coach Carol Atkinson says: "Makayla was one of our leading hitters. She led the team with five homeruns and batted a .327. She was a solid catcher the past two seasons and earned first team All-SOL Colonial honors. She always has a positive attitude and a great team leader.”
