The Lady Patriots dropped their second grueling five-set match of the week, this time against North Penn.
The Patriots’ defense had its work cut out for them, and they were up to the challenge. Arya Haridas (10 digs, 3 assists, 2 service aces) led the back row in digs, closely followed by Abi Zmuda (8 digs, 1 service ace) and Carmyn O'Brien (7 digs). The attack was led by Sophia Schwartz (7 kills), Ali Minacci (7 kills, 4 blocks, 1 service ace), Reese Coxey (6 kills, 2 blocks) and Regina Mathur (7 digs, 2 service aces, 1 kill). Mia Mettille posted a tremendous all-around performance with 19 assists, 6 service aces, 5 digs and 2 kills.
North Penn (2-1, 1-0 SOL) will travel to Quakertown on Tuesday, and CB East(1-2, 0-1) is off until Tuesday when they travel to Souderton for a conference match.
CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 1
The Bucks opened their SOL season with a road win over their sister school.
Setter Elisa Kremser had 30 assists with many of those setting up kills by Kya Lynch , who had 15 kills to go along with 17 digs in an impressive double-double. Ashlyn Kear added 11 digs and six aces.
Central Bucks West (1-1, 1-0 SOL) will be on the road at Pennridge Tuesday, and Central Bucks South (0-3, 0-10 will travel to Downingtown East Wednesday for a non-league match.
PENNRIDGE 3, SOUDERTON 1 (29-27, 17-25, 25-20, 28-26)
The Lady Rams earned a four-set win that was anything but easy.
For the Indians, Lauren Vince led the way with 15 kills, 15 digs and one ace. Lily Self had nine kills, seven aces and 11 digs while Emma Conklin contributed seven kills. Setter Stella Powers had 31 assists as well as 11 digs, three kills and one block. Zoe Folk led the defense with 28 digs and also had two aces. Ava Woodbury added 12 digs, one kill, one block and one assist, and Ella Rothenberger had one kill and two blocks.
Pennridge (4-0, 1-0 SOL) will host Central Bucks West on Tuesday, and Souderton (2-1, 0-1) will host Central Bucks East on Tuesday.
SOL American
ABINGTON 3, PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 1
Sasha Moody and Sofie Heininger were double trouble for the Colonials in Thursday’s season opener, coming for 36 kills in a dominant performance at the net. Moody led the way with 21 and Heininger added 15 to lead the Ghosts to the impressive win in Thursday’s SOL opener.
Setter Mary Carter was the facilitator, handing out 41 assists in a standout performance. She also had six aces.
Abington (2-0, 1-0 SOL) will host Springfield Twp Tuesday, and Plymouth Whitemarsh (2-1, 0-1) will host New Hope-Solebury on Wednesday.
UPPER DUBLIN 3, WISSAHICKON 0
The visiting Cardinals opened league play with a sweep of the Trojans.
Reese Fidler led the Cards at the net, finishing with 13 kills and one block. Brooke Kinsley added nine kills and four digs while Madison Small had six kills and one dig. Kaitlyn Small (13 assists, 1 kill, 1 ace, 3 digs, 1 block) and Ruby Vogel (16 assists, 5 aces, 1 dig) shared setting duties.
Alisa Zeng’s 12 digs led the defense. Ellie Cheifetz added five digs, two aces and one assist.
Upper Dublin (2-1, 1-0 SOL) will host Hatboro-Horsham Tuesday, and Wissahickon (0-2, 0-1) will host Cheltenham Tuesday.
