Upper Moreland Comments
Very exciting game that went to overtime! This was a big step for the Bears program ending in a scoreless tie with a team like Upper Dublin that has a history of being in the playoffs. Although this wasn’t a team win - we look at it as a “team success”.
Our defense played together and communicated SO well today! I don’t always stay calm, but our defense played very calm in our own circle communicating and getting the ball out. Our goalie Addi Hurley had another tremendous game with 13 saves and no goals allowed!
Kelly Bates and Izzy Duncan led our defensive unit including Mac Reilly, Hannah Gardner and Addi Gans making her first varsity start this season.
Both teams had scoring chances. Ella Gould played well at both forward and mid, while Olivia Torres, Kyleigh Convey, Charleis Fayall and Melisa Torpey had several breakaways and awesome passing to move the ball up the field.
“We still need to get less corners defensively, but we are discussing that and working on that everyday in practice.” I was happy we were able to keep upper Dublin off the scoreboard, but wish we could’ve forced more offensive corners to put a goal in.
Here we are about halfway through the season, and we are really coming together as a team - not only the starters, but several players off the bench that get quality time and are a part of our success! After the game, our captains commented that everything we’ve been working on in practice and in the off-season is starting to come together and allowing us to compete in these higher-level games!
