In an extraordinary Week 5 of the SOL football season that included many players deserving top honors, Sterling Limousine & Transportation Services is limiting its Players of the Week top honors to just three players who delivered game-winning plays in the closing seconds with their respective team’s games on the line.

Brady Martin, Quakertown – The junior quarterback had a career night in Quakertown’s remarkable 35-34 come-from-behind win over Souderton, throwing for 363 yards and five touchdowns. He also blocked an extra point. Martin engineered an 80-yard game-winning touchdown drive that began on the Panthers’ 20 with 17 seconds on the clock, completing 3-of-3 pass (all to Matt Thomas), including a 43-yard Hail Mary to the Indians’ 10-yard line with 12 seconds remaining in regulation and then getting to the line in time to spike the ball with just 2 seconds remaining. With only one play to get in the end zone, Martin connected with Thomas for a 10-yard touchdown strike that gave the Panthers – who trailed 28-0 after one quarter - the improbable win.
Danny Gies, Central Bucks South – The gifted senior is Central Bucks South’s leading receiver, averaging 26.4 yards a reception. Gies had seven receptions for 173 yards and two touchdowns in Central Bucks South’s 35-34 electrifying come-from-behind win over Central Bucks West. Impressive numbers, to be sure, but Gies’ value to his team is not measured by numbers alone. Over the course of the season, the 6-2 receiver has shown the ability to make remarkable catches, but none could possibly top his impossible 29-yard reception of quarterback Owen Pinkerton’s perfectly placed Hail Mary pass. The improbable catch in the end zone with West defenders draped all over him gave the Titans the emotional win.

Special Teams Player of the Week
Angelo Pereira, Pennsbury – The junior kicker split the uprights for a 31-yard field goal with 12 seconds remaining in Pennsbury’s conference battle with Central Bucks East, breaking a 14-14 tie and propelling the Falcons to the 17-14 win in last Friday’s must-win game. It is the second time in two years Pereira has been a difference maker against Central Bucks East. In last year’s contest, Pereira nailed a 35-yard field goal – his third of three field goals in the game - with 25 seconds remaining to give the Falcons a 16-14 win over the Patriots.
Sterling Limo Honor Roll:
Everett Baker, Plymouth Whitemarsh – The senior running back turned in a monster performance in Plymouth Whitemarsh’s 42-15 win over Penn Wood, finishing with 13 carries for 181 yards and five touchdowns in a stellar outing.
Kaiden Brown, Pennsbury - The junior running back led the Falcons' all but unstoppable ground game, rushing for 164 yards in Pennsbury's 17-14 win over Central Bucks East.
Aiden Burgy, Quakertown – The junior tight end played a major role on offense in Quakertown’s 35-34 win in a game the Panthers trailed 28-0 after one quarter. Burgy had seven receptions for 193 yards and three touchdowns.
Jared Higgenbotham, Cheltenham – The junior running back led the ground game in Cheltenham’s 31-14 win over Bensalem, finishing with 137 rushing yards and one touchdown.
Kendall Jackson, Cheltenham – The sophomore quarterback led Cheltenham to a 31-14 win over Bensalem, throwing for
Max Peterson, Plymouth Whitemarsh – The sophomore kicker was a perfect 7-for-7 in PATs and also had a successful on-sides kick in Plymouth Whitemarsh’s 42-15 win over Penn Wood.
Owen Pinkerton, Central Bucks South - The senior quarterback turned in another dazzling performance in Central Bucks South's 22-17 win over Central Bucks West, throwing for 244 yards and two touchdowns - including a 39-yard Hail Mary for the game-winning TD - and running for another.
Nolan Pounds, Wissahickon – The senior quarterback had another big game in Wissahickon’s 52-20 win over Interboro, throwing for 277 yards and two touchdowns.
Isaiah Rosario, William Tennent – The senior running back was a workhorse In William Tennent’s 14-7 win over JP Maskey, carrying the ball 20 times for 220 yards and one touchdown. His one-yard touchdown run in the third quarter broke a 7-7 tie and turned out to be the game-winner. The TD was set up by Rosario’s 86-yard carry to the one-yard line.
Ron Shepherd, Upper Dublin – The senior running back was the offensive catalyst in Upper Dublin’s 24-7 win over Council Rock South, finishing with 130 and two touchdowns on 20 carries.
Chase Smith, Plymouth Whitemarsh – The senior defensive back was a difference maker on defense in Plymouth Whitemarsh’s 42-15 win over Penn Wood, delivering two interceptions that were returned for 81 yards.
Matt Thomas, Quakertown – The senior wide receiver was an offensive catalyst in Quakertown’s 35-34 win come-from-behind win over Souderton in a game the Panthers trailed 28-0 after one quarter. Thomas finished with nine catches for 141 yards and two touchdowns. He had all three receptions in Quakertown’s miraculous 80-yard touchdown drive engineered by Brady Martin in the final 17 seconds of the game, including a 43-yard catch at the Indians’ 10-yard line and then a 10-yard TD reception on the final play of the game.
Ben Walsh, Souderton – The junior quarterback had a big game behind center in Souderton’s 35-34 loss to Quakertown, completing 15 of 24 passes for 213 yards and two touchdowns.
Hunter Smeltz, Souderton – The junior wide receiver had nine receptions for 160 yards in a strong outing in Souderton’s 35-34 loss to Quakertown.
