Upper Moreland vs. Delaware County Christian

Upper Moreland Comments
Goalie Addi Hurley came up with her 400th career save early in the first quarter of this tough non league game! Addi has had a stellar career at Upper Moreland - her 10th grade year, she had 205 saves. Junior year, missing almost half the season with a concussion, Addi still had 107 saves. This year, we started keeping track because I knew she was probably close to a milestone and should be celebrated. Today, she got her 88th save this season - plus a few more! To bring her total above 400 !!
The team was really excited for her, because she is such a great teammate and team leader. We had these huge purple 4-0-0 balloons in my car all week, because you never know how many shots there will be in any given field hockey game. So, some of her favorite field hockey teammates brought them down to the field after the first quarter for these pictures.
Addi was also honored as Upper Moreland’s student of the month for September and is the Bears starting varsity lacrosse goalie since her 10th grade year!
In the game, Delco Christian started off very fast and had two very skilled players who delivered in the circle. UM defenders Izzy Duncan, Julia Gallen, Mackenzie Reilly and Addi Gans had a tough job, but were able to adjust to Delco Christian’s quick shots and aggressive play. Duncan and Gallen were defensive leaders throughout the game during a lot of circle play. Ella Gould had another dynamic game playing everywhere on de and attack.
The score was 4-0 at half. Addi Hurley made 11 saves in the first half with 4 goals allowed. Then our other senior goalie went in to do their job! Ash Conrad held strong having one of their best games of the season, with 10 saves and only 1 goal allowed. We are so lucky to have two goalies ready to play and willing to battle against a lot of shots. They both work SO hard in practice everyday with our assistant coach Melanie Rowland, along with our other two goalies.
On the forward line, Melissa Torpey and Charleis Fayall played hard and got several opportunities but couldn't find the net. Bridget Hess, Olivia Torres and Savannah Anderson played well at midfield for the Bears.
