The Upper Moreland team started with energy and was doing an awesome job competing with New Hope. Then with 2 minutes left in the first quarter, UM defense had a breakdown, when they thought an offensive foul had occurred in the circle and reacted to that, but after the no call, NHS scored. Then New Hope drew another corner with time running out in the 1st quarter and the striker hit a bullet shot to make it 2 - 0.
As play continued, the Bears defense led by Kelly Bates, Izzy Duncan, Addi Gans and Julia Gallen kept New Hope from taking shots on goalie Addi Hurley. Hurley is our vocal leader in the circle and she worked to direct her circle defenders to take away NHS’s scoring opportunities. Hurley only had to make 8 saves with the Lions in the Bear’s circle multiple times due to her leadership.
Bridget Hess and Olivia Torres were dynamic in the midfield getting the ball up to the attack. Melissa Torpey, Kyleigh Convey and Ella Gould used their stickwork to get into New Hope’s circle. They got several corners, but could not score. Off the bench, freshmen Hannah Gardner, Taylor Pagano and Harper Richmond keep developing and playing well for the Bears.
