SOL Girls' Volleyball Wrap (10-8-24)

SOL National Conference

WILLIAM TENNENT 3, BENSALEM 1 (21-25, 25-21, 25-17, 25-21)
The visiting Panthers defeated the Owls in four sets, but despite the outcome, the Owls had reason to celebrate as senior Talia DiMichele put her name in the program record books with 1,000 assists.
“I’m really proud of how the girls played today,” Bensalem coach Violet DiMichele said. “They fought till the end and really competed the whole game.
“Shoutout to our setter, Talia DiMichele, for recording her 1000th assist. She’s one of the hardest working athletes I know. She’s had a standout season with 100 aces to start the season and now recording her 1000th assist. The hard work is paying off, and I’m happy she gets to achieve such well-earned milestones.”
DiMichele handed out 27 assists in Tuesday’s match and now has 1,022. She also had 12 digs, four kills and two aces. Dane Howe led the defense with 15 digs, and Evette Wesseh led the attack with 15 kills. Kacey Wolanski contributed eight kills and 13 digs.
For the Panthers, Kristina Bensionova had a huge night at the net with 17 kills and three blocks. Lauren Marsland had nine kills while Ava Stracuzzi delivered eight up front for the Panthers. Margaux Kellum played a great game at libero with 30 digs, and setter Izzy Goebel dished out 27 assists and had five aces.
William Tennent (8-9, 4-6 SOL) will host George Washington High School in a non-league match Thursday, and Bensalem (3-14, 1-8) will travel to Harry S Truman Thursday.

COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 3, NESHAMINY 1 (25-17, 25-20, 21-25, 25-17)
The Golden Hawks improved to 10-0 in conference play with their four-set win over the visiting Redskins.
Setters Olivia DeSaro, Emelie Korn and Alyssa Share dished out the assists tonight to pins, middles and back row players. Lengthy service runs were put together by both libero Halle Wilson and OH/S Olivia DeSaro. Great all-around team effort.
CR South (14-3, 10-0 SOL) takes on conference rival Pennsbury again this week on Thursday. Neshaminy (7-8, 4-5) will travel to Council Rock North Thursday.

COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, HARRY S TRUMAN 0
Rock North was led by Sloane Jordan with 11 kills and 5 aces; Olivia Szymkiewicz with 10 kills and 9 aces; Rylee Desruiseau with 10 aces. Addison Zarillo added 4 kills and 2 aces, while Helena Lentz chipped in with 3 kills.

SOL Continental Conference

QUAKERTOWN 3, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 1 (25-20, 15-25, 25-23, 25-23)
The Panthers picked up a hard-fought road win, defeating the Patriots in four sets.
Leading the Panthers at the net were Ellie White (12 kills, 6 blocks, 6 aces, 2 digs), Krysalyn Juchno (12 kills, 1 block, 1 ace, 1 dig) and Rachel White (8 kills, 3 blocks, 2 digs). Alex Laco added four kills and two digs while Ally Cole had four digs, one kill and one block. Setter Genevieve Clark dished out 31 assists and also had one ace, one block and 13 digs. Also contributing to the defense were Meghan Steiert (12 digs, 1 ace), Zoe Hartley (11 digs, 2 aces) and Colleen Gallagher (8 digs).  
Missing two starters from their lineup due to injuries, the Lady Patriots fell in four sets. Senior Regina Mathur was one of the bright spots for the team, registering 10 kills, 20 digs and three blocks. Her partner in crime - senior Sophia Schwartz - also had a strong offensive night, delivering 13 kills and six digs. The defense was anchored by Arya Haridas (19 digs), Ali Minacci (8 blocks and 4 kills) and Carmyn O'Brien (9 digs and 6 service aces). Sharing setting duties were Mia Mettille (16 assists, 8 service aces, 5 kills and 5 digs) and Sadie Jones (18 assists and 7 digs).
Quakertown (8-7, 3-6 SOL) will host Central Bucks West Thursday, and Central Bucks East (5-11, 3-6) will travel to Pennridge Thursday.

CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3, NORTH PENN 0
Central Bucks West earned a sweep of the visiting Knights.
The Bucks once again displayed strength in service, excelling across their lineup. North Penn played a tough set, forcing West to adjust and readjust throughout. The front row was led by setter Elisa Kremser (2 aces, 4 kills, 1 block, 12 assists, 6 digs) and outside hitter Kya Lynch (1 ace, 7 kills, 2 blocks, 14 digs). The Bucks played aggressively throughout with notable contributions from middle hitter Ava Streibig (4 kills, 2 blocks 4 digs) and outside hitter Molly Kearns (2 kills, 1 assist, 3 digs). The Bucks were led defensively by libero Emily Ferrese (16 digs, 1 assist). Erin McCusker added one ace, two kills, five assists and six digs. The Bucks travel to Quakertown Thursday October 10th.

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 3, SOUDERTON 0
The Titans earned a sweep of the Indians in a conference battle Tuesday.
For the Indians, setter Caroline Bache had 15 assists and four digs. Kylie Okeefe led the Indians with six kills and two digs, Lauren Vince added five aces, four kills and 10 digs, Stella Powers had four kills, two aces, two assists and three digs, and Emma Conklin contributed three kills, one ace and one block. Zoe Folk led the defense with 14 digs and one kill.
Central Bucks South (7-9, 3-6 SOL) will host North Penn on Thursday, and Souderton (8-9, 3-7) will travel to Gwynedd Mercy for a non-league match Thursday.

SOL American Conference

UPPER DUBLIN 3, ABINGTON 1
The Flying Cardinals moved one step closer to a conference crown with their win over the Ghosts, and Abington setter Mary Carter reached a personal milestone, ensuring herself a spot in program history as just the second player to reach the 1,000-assist mark.
“Mary is the heart and soul of this program,” Abington coach Dan Marsh said. “She leads in many ways. Work ethic being one, she’s very hard on herself, she will never let her teammates take blame and she is a tremendous setter who can get the ball to the pin from anywhere in the gym, and finally she has carried this program to heights it’s never seen.  “I’m very proud and privileged to coach her. She didn’t even set her freshman year and still manages 1000 assists an amazing accomplishment for an amazing person.”
The Ghosts held their Dig Pink Night.

“It was an amazing atmosphere, but they were a little bit better tonight,” Marsh said.
Brooke Kinsley led the Cardinals at the net with 11 kills to go along with one ace, four assists, 10 digs and one block. Reese Fidler added eight kills, one ace and two digs, and Madison Small had seven kills, two assists,13 digs and one block. Setter Kaitlyn Small handed out 28 assists and also had four kills, nine digs and three blocks. Alisa Zeng led the defense with 26 digs and one ace. Also making important contributions were Isabelle Driehuis (3 kills, 5 blocks), Janis Andrulonis (2 kills, 4 aces, 2 digs, 2 blocks) and Lyvia Marcus (2 aces, 5 digs).
“Thank you Abington for hosting and letting us be part of a fun Dig Pink Night,” UD coach Paul Choi said. “It was a great match with an awesome atmosphere.”
Upper Dublin (15-1, 11-0 SOL) will host Cheltenham Thursday, and Abington (10-4, 8-3) will travel to Wissahickon Thursday.
