SOL Patriot

Neshaminy 5, Council Rock North 3
When these teams met last month, a display of sportsmanship highlighted a high-octane thriller that gave Neshaminy a narrow leg up in the standings.
Thursday's rematch naturally had plenty on the line, both teams needing a win to make their case at claiming the SOL Patriot title. Unsurprisingly, two potent offenses again combined for some fireworks and while the usual suspects delivered - Neshaminy's Kylie Maxwell had her second hat trick of the week while CR North' Mia Cairone bagged a brace - it was Neshaminy's Bri Garyah that was the spark.
The forward, who has spent much of the season trying to regain her form coming off a summer injury, stepped up and delivered two crucial goals including the eventual game-winner in what was a back and forth slugfest.
With the win, Neshaminy moved two games clear in the table with two games to go.
Scoring Summary
1st Half
N - Kylie Maxwell 36:00
CRN - Mia Cairone 35:00
N - Bri Garyah 31:28
CRN - Mia Cairone 6:45
N - Kylie Maxwell (Ava Hood) 1:14
2nd Half
N - Bri Garyah (Abby Colllins) 27:24
N - Kylie Maxwell (PK) 15:32
CRN - 4:00
Neshaminy coach Josh van Reed on the win: "I thought that the girls played a great game today. We made some changes to positions and moved some people around to start the game. It was nice to get on the board early. I was real pleased with the win, Rock North is a good team and we needed win to stay up in the standings. I was most pleased with the variety of goals today. We have been talking and working on scoring in multiple ways."
High-paced first half: "Kylie is always working hard and was able to pick a ball off and put it in for our first goal early. But CR North came right back down, and Mia made a good run on goal that leveled it up pretty quick. We came back down field and off a free kick from Cassidy Tweedie, the ball popped around in the box, and Bri was able to tap it in to put us up. Towards the end of the half, Mia got on another good run from a through ball and tied the game up again. With about a minute left in the half, Kylie got another from a free kick, Ava Hood brought the ball down and p
layed it off to Kylie to go into halftime 3-2."
Second half offense: "We got going pretty quick with another goal to give us some breathing room. Abby Collins slid a great ball into space behind the defense and Bri had the awareness to put the ball on frame as the keeper was coming out. It was a real quick finesse touch, a very nice goal. Our fifth goal came from Kylie when she got into the box and cut back but was taken down for a PK, which she converted."
Props: "Our free kicks have been getting better as the year progresses. Cassidy has been serving great balls from midfield and Taylor Maxwell and Ana Axenroth have served great corners for us all year. Ava Hood has been helpful when we need her for long throws into the box. And the communication and connecting with each also continues to improve. There are times when watching them, you know they are having fun; they’re being creative, they’re taking chances and more importantly they are working for each other. Kylie had another great game today and so did Brianna Garyah. Bri is coming off an injury from summer and has worked very hard to get fit. I was happy to see her get a couple goals today."
Up next: CR North (12-4, 6-2 SOL) visits Council Rock South at 5pm on Monday to play for the Unity Cup. Neshaminy (14-2, 8-0) travels to Pennsbury at 7pm on Monday.

Pennsbury 5, Bensalem 0
Every win helps right now as a Falcons team blending senior leaders with plenty of underclassmen contributors pursues a District 1 playoff bid.
Pennsbury ended Thursday holding the No. 26 spot in the Class 4A rankings, the top 28 moving on to the postseason. Thanks to another productive day offensively from Sydney Becker - the freshman scoring two goals - and Ria Pevzner - the sophomore adding a goal and two assists - and a shutout defensively, the Falcons got the result.
Junior Ashlyn McEwing scored a goal, volleying in a corner kick from Pevzner, then paid the favor back with a cross that led to Pevzner's goal. Freshman Abbie Ellis also tallied a goal and assist for the Falcons.

Pennbury coach Jenna Peters on the win: "This was another fantastic team victory, and I couldn’t be prouder of the girls' performance. We always emphasize the importance of building on our last game or practice, and today the team exemplified that. They applied what we’ve been working on in training and brought it to the game with great discipline and execution. The consistent growth we’re seeing, both individually and collectively, is a testament to the work ethic and commitment they bring to every session and game."
Shoutout to the backs: "Our defense was exceptional, with Jordyn Patrick, Clare Caldaro, Izzy DiMatia, Nicole Mucciacciaro, Ashlyn McEwing, Madi Miller, and Madison Ferroni all stepping up to shut down every attacking threat that came their way. While their efforts may not show up on the scoresheet like goals and assists do, their contributions are invaluable."

Central Bucks West 2, Central Bucks South 0
The Bucks gave the night to their seniors, but only after getting past a Titans group that's proven to be quite formidable this season.
This particular group has been through a little bit of everything in their four years at West but what's never been in doubt is their desire. Fittingly, the first goal of the night came from a senior in Mackenize Gausch who fought through an injury for her team.
Junior Emery Sterling continued to add to her terrific season with another timely goal as the Bucks continue to battle for playoff seeding heading into a tough final week of the regular season.
Scoring Summary
1st Half
CBW - Mackenzie Gausch
2nd Half
CBW - Emery Sterling
CB West coach Bree Benedict on the win: "The girls came out with a lot of energy. I think we did a great job in the midfield battle. We talked about being proud of how we played today, and by the end the entire coaching staff and team were so proud of the performance. We have a special senior class who have dedicated four years to our program and had the experience of a lifetime, they put that on display tonight. We really honored them the right way."
Senior standouts: "Mackenzie Gausch was special on the ball tonight. She got us on the board with a fantastic finish in the upper 90 with about six minutes left in the first half. She really put in a top class performance on her senior night despite being injured. Eva Wierzbowski continues to lead this team with her defensive effort. It’s so special to watch a creative attacking personality do all the hard work and put her team first, she’s an incredible leader, she’s going to be a great collegiate player at a final four program in Pitt next year. It’s great to see her set the standard of West soccer and pass it down to our underclassmen. Fallon was fantastic in goal with another shut out."
Props: "Jokingly but in all seriousness, Janelle Blokker continues to be a coach on the field, doing my job for me and keeping us organized. Emery Sterling is a nose for goal forward who finds the net for us more than she doesn’t, even under double teams she finds a way. I’m really thrilled with the energy we brought tonight against a talented CB South squad."
West senior captain Eva Wierzbowski “So proud of my teammates tonight. We really honored and played for our seniors, and it showed with our bravery, willingness to run through everything, and togetherness. My senior night was so special because of how well we worked as a team together.”
West junior Emery Sterling “I was so proud of how the team showed up tonight. We knew we had to make the night special for our seniors as they have given so much to our program. It was awesome to see Kenz get us on the board at the end of the first half. The team knew we had to keep the momentum strong coming into the second half, and it was nice to be able to score one to help the team. It was really great to see how we are applying what we have worked on in practice to games.”
Up next: CB West (12-5, 5-3 SOL) hosts CB East in annual Kick for Pink game at 7:15pm on Monday. CB South (10-5-1, 3-4-1) hosts Pennridge at 5:30pm on Monday.
CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 1 1 - 2
CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 0 0 – 0

Central Bucks East 2, Souderton 0
A determined Souderton side proved a difficult wall to break for the Patriots through much of Thursday's match.
On a night where East honored a senior class that's been part of three straight state playoff trips and has designs on a fourth, it took some persistence to get the desired result. The Patriots have relied on their seniors and their sophomores plenty this season, so it felt fitting those classes contributed on the two hard-earned goals.
Sophomores Mia Forney and Taylor Roumy eased the tension when they finally got one past Souderton keeper Emily Dick - who had a career effort - before seniors Madelyn Hilll and Jessie Bernabe added some much needed insurance to make sure their Senior Night ended with three points in the table.
Scoring Summary
2nd Half
CBE - Mia Forney (Taylor Roumy) 28th
CBE - Madelyn Hill (Jessie Bernabe) 30th
CB East coach Jake Nesteruk on the win: "Total respect for Souderton for playing a tough, well defended game. We spent a majority of this game with the ball in their half, but Soudy was very disciplined, gritty, and prevented us from creating anything really dangerous. On Senior Night, with all those emotions in it, and then throw in a 0-0 game where it feels like you're going to break through, but it just requires patience, it's easy to get frustrated and lose sight of how you play as a team.
"Credit to our girls for staying composed throughout this one and seeing through a really good conference game. You get to this end of the season, it takes a full team to earn results, and that's what this game was. So proud of our seniors for the leadership they've given our program, and I'm happy we honored their years in the program with a key win for us."
First goal: "A great ball in from Ella Roumy led to a Jessie Bernabe header was saved by the Souderton keeper, setting up a corner. Taylor Roumy served one in that landed in a really dangerous spot and Mia found a tight window to get a shot off and break this game open."
Second goal: "After a good sequence from Ella to Jessie to Mads out wide, we created a really good chance from Jessie that hit off the crossbar. Jessie ended up sticking with the ball off the bar and made a hustle play to push the ball out to Mads, who just put the ball on frame and scored another really important goal for us."
Souderton coach Melissa Lollar on the match:  "The Indians kept the top team in the district off the board for the first 65 minutes of the game. Emily Dick had 23 saves in the game."
Up next: CB East (15-1, 8-0 SOL) visits CB West in the annual Kick for Pink game at 7:15pm on Monday. Souderton (7-9, 1-7) visits North Penn at 7pm on Monday.

The Rams rebounded from their loss earlier in the week with a win over a Knights squad hunting a playoff bid.
Riley Willliams staked the Rams to a 1-0 halftime lead, scoring off a Payton Rabinowitz assist. Jessie Moylan scored the eventual game-winner, converting an opportunity after Caitlyn Peace drew a foul before the Knights scored a late goal to put some pressure on.
Up next: Pennridge (14-2, 6-2 SOL) visits CB South at 5:30 pm on Monday. North Penn (6-10-1, 0-7-1) hosts Souderton at 7pm on Monday.

Upper Dublin 4, Quakertown 0
Bridget DiMartile had quite a day.
The sophomore, a three-sport athlete, was lethal in front of goal as she netted all four tallies for the Flying Cardinals as they picked up their second win over Quakertown this season. DiMartile didn't do it alone, the winger getting plenty of pristine service from her teammates to help UD into prime position to try and secure an outright division title next week.
Upper Dublin's defense was sterling as well, securing its fifth shutout in the division and eighth overall.
Scoring Summary
1st Half
UD - Bridget DiMartile (Peyton Ward) 6th
UD - Bridget DiMartile (Erin Seabrook) 28th
2nd Half
UD - Bridget DiMartile (Peyton Ward) 58th
UD - Bridget DiMartile (Shannon Connaughton) 64th
UD coach John Topper on the win: "Today’s win was a complete team effort, highlighted by Bridget DiMartile’s four goal performance. Peyton Ward found Bridget on the right flank in the sixth minute, and she was able to beat her defender to the inside and tuck it inside the post with her left.  Erin Seabrook played her in behind the defense for her second goal in the 28th.  Peyton Ward assisted Bridget again in the 58th, after a demonstrating tremendous bit of skill to beat several opponents in the midfield to play her in.  DiMartile’s final goal came in the 64th from Shannon Connaughton on a set piece.
"Our back line was phenomenal today in maintaining the shutout, with a particularly strong showing by senior Sophia Sirianni."

Plymouth Whitemarsh 1, Hatboro-Horsham 0 (2 OT)
As they continue to fight for a place in the District 1 4A playoffs, the Colonials will take every win they can get even if takes a few extra minutes.
After losing a tight battle with the Hatters in their first meeting, PW found itself locked in another grinder of a game Thursday and one that had dragged into a second overtime. They'd already lost on a late goal earlier in the week, but this time it was the Colonials' turn to be on the winning side as stalwart midfielder Maddie McGuckien delivered a very important goal.
The win helped PW hold the No. 25 slot in the 4A rankings, with 28 teams getting an invite to continue playing, on Thursday with an important final week of the regular season on deck.
Scoring Summary
OT2
PW - Maddie McGuckien
PW coach TJ DeLucia on the win: "After another heart-breaking late one-goal loss in the league at Wissahickon on Tuesday night, our team bounced back today at home vs. Hatboro. We played Hatboro the first time through the division and gave up a sloppy goal in the final minutes to lose 1-0. Today was another tight battle. We played really well in the first half. Hatboro got into the game into the second half, and it was much more back and forth."
The goal: "We had the tap in the second overtime and junior midfielder Maddie McGuckien sends a long ball off the tap into their backline; an unfortunate handball occurs a couple yards outside the 18. Maddie McGuckien asked to take the free kick, pretty much right in the middle of the field. Hatboro set up a five-player wall and McGuckien found the outside of the wall to put it in the corner of the net.
"It was Maddie’s team-leading eighth goal of the season in 13 games. Maddie wants the ball in those situations. She is an alpha-type personality and player and those are the type of players you want up in those situations."
Defensive effort: "It is worth nothing that this game was our seventh clean sheet of the season, matching last season’s total. Credit to goalkeeper Olivia Bragg and our backline of Katie Lukens, Kaiane Jayo, Maddie McLaughlin, and Harper Reilly. We’ve given up 16 goals in 16 games and if you told me that on August 12th – with a new goalkeeper and new defense - I would have signed up for it in a second. That being said, we expected to be in a better position at this point of the season but, with today’s win, we live to fight another day. We host Abington on Monday and recognize the challenge they present. I’m excited to see how our team responds to that challenge."
Up next: Hatboro-Horsham (6-8-1, 2-5-1 SOL) hosts Upper Dublin at 3:45 on Monday. PW hosts (9-6-1, 3-4-1) Abington at 3:30 on Monday.

Abington 3, Wissahickon 0
The energy of the Ghosts' senior night helped vault them past a Trojans team that is also jostling for positioning in the District 1 4A power rankings.
At night's end on Thursday, Abington was No. 22 and Wiss No. 23 in the standings as both teams look to finish strong in their final week of games.
Scoring Summary
1st Half
A - Alexis Whaley
2nd Half

Abington coach Rick Tompkins on the win: "Alexis Whaley opened the scoring for the Ghosts by converting a breakaway. The pass that sprung her was provided by Sara Kaeser. In the second half, Marissa Hellyer curled in a corner kick to double the Abington lead. The final tally was made by Nya Riggs who placed a ball past the Wissahickon goalkeeper, who had made a desperation save on a breakaway, but Nya was in the right placed and calmly converted the chance."

SOL Freedom

Lower Moreland 3, New Hope-Solebury 1
The battle of Lions may have gone to division leader Lower Moreland, but it was not a win easily earned.
Lower Moreland needed a tenacious effort from Emma Leibert to finally crack a gritty New Hope-Solebury group, then added a pair of second half goals to stay unbeaten in the Freedom standings. It was a good win for LM ahead of a Monday clash with second place William Tennent.
Scoring Summary
1st Half
LM - Emma Leibert (Jordyn Fox)
2nd Half
LM - Ruby Levin (Nikki Sahl)
LM - Gabby Sellecchia (Dara Chartock)
Lower Moreland coach Todd Hill on the win: "We beat an aggressive and improved New Hope team today.  They challenged us throughout the first half.  In the second half we were able to move the ball a bit better, which opened up our attack and allowed us to pressure them in their end."
First goal: "In the first half we really struggled to connect passes or create an attack. However, Emma Leibert is pretty relentless in her attack and kept wearing down the New Hope defense until she was on the receiving end of a great cross from Jordyn Fox and put the ball in the back of the net as the lone first half goal."
Second half goals: "Nikki Sahl put a ball across the box that was not handled by the New Hope goalie. Ruby Levin is so quick and so good at attacking the goal, she cleaned up the rebound and netted our second goal. Late in the second half, Dara Chartock slid a ball to Gabby Sellecchia on the end line.  With almost no angle, Gabby managed to sneak the ball inside the near post and past the goalie for our third and final goal."
Up next:  New Hope-Solebury (1-13, 1-7 SOL) hosts MaST Charter at 3:30 on Friday. Lower Moreland (11-4, 7-0) hosts William Tennent at 3:30 on Monday.

Upper Moreland 2, Cheltenham 0
The Golden Bears had a busy week with three fixtures, and they finished it with a pristine 3-0 record.
Thursday, it was a goal on either side of halftime backing up goalkeeper Gracie Costello's eighth shutout of the season.
Scoring Summary
1st Half
UM - Madeline Cox (Mollly Dancer) 39th
2nd Half
UM - Brogan Neely (Steph Jones) 65th
UM coach Lisa Benvenuto on the win: "Three games this week and three wins—I am really proud of our girls and the grit they showed this week. Cheltenham showed up today, and they did a good job in their defensive third getting numbers back. We were able to keep the ball in our offensive end, we were struggling to finish."
Scoring chances: "With a minute left in the first half, Lizzie Walker placed a corner in front of the goal, Molly Dancer was able to get a knee to it and Madeline Cox was able to bury it in the goal. Cox has been working so hard on the front line for us—she plays tough, and she is gritty—and she was able to get us on the scoreboard. In the second half, we had another corner where Lizzie Walker found Steph Jones who headed the ball at the far post. Brogan Neely was able to redirect the ball into the back of the net."
Props: "We were able to get a good rotation of girls into the match. Solid contributions from Gracie Costello, Annalise Messina, Lizzie Walker, Deanna Swedberg, Maggie Brophy, and shoutout to Molly Dancer with her first varsity points."
