Bensalem Comments
The Bensalem Field Hockey team celebrated their eleven seniors with a thrilling 1-0 overtime victory, defeating William Tennent. It was Bensalem's 7th win on the year, which is their highest win total in over fifteen years. It was the second time the two teams would get together this season, the first time with an impressive 5-1 victory in the first game of the season. Tennent has surely made strides over this season. After playing a full sixty minutes, with the score locked on zero, the two teams set out for overtime. It was Bensalem's first overtime game over the past two years. It didn't take long into overtime when senior Giuliana Pasquarella sent a beautiful ball into the circle where sophomore Mollie Reilly tipped it home. It was a grand celebration, and a great way to finish the senior's home final game.
It was a lot of jumbling around of the lines tonight, with some players playing some positions that were new to them. We were able to start 10 of our 11 seniors, with the 11th, Emily Adams, being introduced in the second quarter in goal. It is totally overwhelming going away from what you were doing all year as far as lineups go, to get everyone into the game as much as possible. But what a way to end it.
Bensalem celebrated captains Giuliana Pasquarella, Haley Groves, and Erin Lendzinski along with goaltenders Brianna Swanson and Emily Adams. They were celebrated alongside of Casey Bush, Olivia Cervantes, Maggie McLaughlin, McKenna White, Paige Schiefer, and Shrina Patel. These 11 seniors, no doubt, will tackle the world like they tackle on the field hockey field. At the beginning of the season I asked for strong, independent young women and ,boy, did I get them! Go off and conquer the world! You're going to be missed!
