#6 PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 3, #7 UPPER DUBLIN 2 (25-21, 15-25, 20-25, 25-17, 15-5)
SOL rivals PW and Upper Dublin had yet another epic battle in the first of two District 1 playback matches that will determine the fifth seed going into the PIAA State playoffs.
The Colonials trailed 2-1 but rallied to win the next two to earn a spot in Thrusday’s playback match.
PW was led by the strong play by their two sophomore middles Ryleigh Gunn (15 kills, 3 blocks) and Eliza Meersman (8 kills), junior outside, Marissa Storti (10 kills), junior libero, Giuliana Storti (24 digs, 2 aces), and junior setter, Ella Walker (21 assists). Sophomore, Brooke Peduzzi stepped up and filled in for senior, Amanda Busk, who had to leave the match due to illness.
“It truly was a team effort and a match that we will not soon forget,” PW coach Dave Stewart said. “The team wishes to congratulate Upper Dublin coach, Paul Choi and his wife on the birth of their child and congratulations to the Upper Dublin team for a fantastic season.”
PW (19-3, 12-2 SOL) will host #12 Spring-Ford in Thursday’s playback game at 3:30 pm.
