Souderton Wrestling captures third at North Penn Girls’ Invitational

The Souderton Girls Wrestling team competed in their first tournament of the season at the North Penn Girls Invitational. The team finished in 3rd place out of 40 teams. Sophomore MacKenna Atkinson who is ranked top 20 in the country went 3-0 with 3 first period pins to win her second consecutive tournament title.
Other tournament placers include:
Junior Emily Sarr made the finals and took 2nd place, losing a nationally ranked opponent.
Senior Kayla Husti-Luca took 3rd place in the toughest bracket of the tournament.
Freshman Holly McKinney also took 3rd place in her first official high school tournament with her only loss coming in the semis to the #2 girl in the country at her weight.Jocelyn Yanes took 5th in her first wrestling tournament ever.Sophomore Emily Hernandez finished on the podium in 8th place.
The team will compete on Wednesday afternoon at home against Coatesville in some exhibition matches and will wrestle on Saturday at the Big Spring Girls Tournament.
