CB West's Kelly to Wrestle at Drexel University

On Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2024, Central Bucks West senior Patrick Kelly was recognized for committing to continue his wrestling career at Drexel University.

Patrick Kelly – Drexel University (Wrestling)

Major: Nursing

Final list of colleges: Drexel, Virginia, George Mason, American, Clarion

Reasons for choosing Drexel: “My goal was to end up in a city vibe. I wanted to find somewhere that clicked for me. I knew as soon as I stepped on campus – it just felt so good.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in wrestling at the collegiate level? “From a young age, it was my dream  to compete in college. Around sophomore/junior year it became realistic. I started getting a lot better.”

Coach Dylan Schwartz says: “I’ve been coaching Patrick for four years. He’s one of the best kids I’ve ever coached. He’s always working hard, he always wants to do extra stuff, and that shows on the mat. In his first year, he was a regional qualifier. In his second year, he was a regional qualifier, and in his third year, he stopped competing in track and put all of his marbles into wrestling, and he ended up taking fourth in the State of Pennsylvania, which is the hardest wrestling state there is. We couldn’t be more proud of him. As soon as he put his mind to it and wanted to do the whole thing, he became one of the best in the country. He’s going to go on to Drexel to wrestle Division 1, and we’re excited for the season to see what more he can do.”
