William Tennent 58, Bensalem 57 (OT)
William Tennent was down by 13 in the fourth quarter, but found a way to come back and tie it up, send it to overtime and then held on for the one-point win over Bensalem in a huge win for the Panthers.
Jayden Bright hit the game-winner for Tennent with 22 seconds left in overtime. Bensalem had chances to win in the waning seconds but couldn’t get one to fall.
Key Players: For Tennent, Ryan Bula (14 points), Matt Weigner (11 points), Luke Torok (10 points).
For Bensalem, Amir Drummond (27 points).
Tennent coach Robert Mulville said about the win: “It was a good one tonight. It was close the whole game, for the most part, but they got up around 13 in the fourth quarter. We were able to get stops on defense, and it was actually kind of weird at the end. Luke Torok hit a 3-pointer with three minutes left to tie it at 50, and that’s how it went to overtime. Neither team could score.
“In overtime, I think we went up four, they scored and then they tied it and went up one. Joey Hebling got a steal, went down and made a layup and that put us up one with 45 seconds left.
“They came down, we fouled, and (Amir) Drummond made both free throws and they were up one. Jayden Bright scored for us with 22 seconds left. Matt Weigner steps in and takes a charge with seven seconds left, and then we miss two free throws. (Bensalem) misses a shot, then misses a tip and then we end up winning by one.”
–Key off the bench: “Tonight, it was the guys off the bench - Joey Hebling, Matt Weigner, Ryan Bula. Bula had 14 points in the fourth quarter. We got a lot of big stops. Weigner had a big ‘3’. Torok hit the big ‘3’ to tie the game. Weigner hit his first five shots. For the season, he had 13 points coming in, tonight he had 11. They’re great kids. They come to practice every day and work hard. Tonight, we needed them to step up and they did a great job.”
Next up: Bensalem (8-7, 4-1 SOL) will host Cheltenham in a non-league game Saturday (5 pm), and William Tennent (7-7, 3-2) will host Upper Moreland Tuesday.

Souderton 80, Abington 70
In a tough, three-game losing streak heading into Friday, Souderton scored 50, 44 and 35 points.
Against Abington, however, the Indians scored 27 points in the first quarter alone, on the way to a huge 80-70 win over the Galloping Ghosts.
"I don't know what it was,” said Souderton coach Okoteh Sackitey. “Something was in the air tonight. This has got to be a record since I've been here. It was fun."
Key Players: For Souderton, Nolan Watkins (17 points), Chanse Salone (16 points), Nate Ruskie (16 points), Trey Bui (15 points).
For Abington, Xavier Grasty (23 points).
Souderton coach Okoteh Sackitey: "We faced some adversity with a couple of close losses in a row. I just wanted the kids to stay together, and I wanted them to dig deeper. People are feeling down about the losses, but we've been down a starter (Thaddeus Harter), and we lost by one point to CB South, a good team, and we lost by three to Upper Moreland, another good team, and we just didn't hit shots in that game. I didn't want the guys to get too down on themselves. We've been competitive against good teams, and we haven't been playing our best. We've all been focused on getting better.
"Everyone's been locked in on that goal. I've been trying to get better myself, and I've been asking each of the kids to get one percent better. We're all just sticking together as a team. I think we responded really well tonight - togetherness and toughness. They played like dogs tonight, and they stuck together in a way that was just beautiful, so we're excited. When we play for each other and with each other, I think it shows a little bit about what we can do.
--Lessons learned: "We learned lessons from the Upper Moreland game, we learned lessons from CB South. We're trying to learn lessons from these games, wins and losses. We're just trying to get better. We keep that the main focus - we get on to the next play, and good things can happen. The kids work too hard not to feel confident in themselves. They know what they've put into this, and I know what they put into this. We know we're a good team, so we have every reason to be confident in what we do. A loss or two doesn't change the hard work we put into it. We deserve to be confident, and they played confident. It was a fun night."
--Looking ahead: "We're trying to get better before we play Pennridge. They're a good team, and they're getting hot, so we know that's going to be good competition."
Next up: Abington (10-5, 3-2 SOL) will host Hatboro-Horsham Tuesday, and Souderton (10-5, 4-1) will be on the road at Pennridge Tuesday.

Upper Moreland 56, Pennsbury 49
Upper Moreland’s tough stretch of nonleague games ended Friday night at home, and against a much bigger Class 6A opponent, Pennsbury, the Golden Bears put on one of their best efforts of the season with the seven-point win.
A strong first half, led by senior Jadon Cybok on offense and tough defense that held the Falcons to just 21 points, gave the Golden Bears a seven-point lead at halftime that they would never relinquish.
Key Players: For UM, Colson Campbell (16 points), Jadon Cybok (16 points).
For Pennsbury, Mike Roccograndi (14 points), Patrick Jajua (10 points).
UM coach Dan Heiland said about his team’s defense: “Especially against a team like Pennsbury, Wes is a really good coach, and he has a really good team this year. They’re similar to us if you look at their schedule, playing a tough stretch against good, competitive teams. Tonight, I’m really proud of my guy’s effort defensively. After (two losses) last week, we took a step back and put more emphasis on playing better defensively.
“The mindset and effort has to be - you’ve got to want to play defense. Guard the guy across from you and they’re not going to get by you. And your teammate is going to be there doing his job.
“We do a good job challenging teams and making it difficult to score, and tonight we did a good job rebounding and holding them to one and done opportunities. I really preach and emphasize that.”
–Props: “Larry Hughes did a really nice job for us, both defensively and offensively. He had six points, had a creative pick and roll game, setting screens for our guys. And he had 11 rebounds and was really good at contesting and blocking shots.
“Jadon and Colson both had 16. Jadon, of his 16, 14 were in the first half. He was feeling good offensively and making his shots. Colson was steady the whole game, taking on physical defense, getting to the rim and knocking down free throws.
“And our surrounding guys, the role players who get in the game and do their job. We try not to skip a beat when you take starters out. When you go 8 to 10 deep in games, it makes it difficult for the other team.”
Pennsbury coach Wes Emme on the tough loss: “Another one where we lost it in a different way - the offensive glass and the (free throw) line. Upper Moreland is tough. They defend as well as anyone we’ve played thus far, and they scored in varying ways throughout the game. So big credit to them.
“Back to work as we enter division play.”
Next up: Upper Moreland (13-4, 4-1) will be on the road at William Tennent Tuesday, and Pennsbury (8-8, 4-1) will host Harry S Truman Tuesday.
Pennsbury (49) - Brayden Clark 2 2-2 6; Mike Roccograndi 6 0-0 14; Grayson Gozum 3 1-3 7; Sean Breslin 1 0-0 3; Patrick Jajua 4 0-0 10. Max Manga 4 1-3 9. Totals 20 4-8 49.

Springfield Twp 63, Council Rock North 62 (2 OT)
After five straight losses and with division play looming on the horizon, Springfield needed a win and it took some dramatics, but the Spartans did so in a big way, knocking off CR North in double overtime for the nonleague win.
"It was definitely good to get back,” said Springfield coach Rob Fusaro. “We lost a couple of tough ones, and this was definitely a good energy pumper and confidence builder.
"It was nice to get a crossover win because the crossovers are a little tougher for us. Being one of the smaller schools around, we're up in 5A now, so we're competing against bigger schools. It's a tribute to these kids that have been with us since eighth grade. They've bought in and done a great job."
CR North hit 14 3-pointers in the loss.
Key Players: For Springfield, Brandon Thompson (17 points), Julian Ciasullo (14 points, 3 assists), Aiden Hood (14 points, 8 rebounds). For CR North, Josh Erman (20 points, 6 3-pointers), Owen Crowne (21 points, 3 3-pointers).
Springfield coach Rob Fusaro on the overtime game-winner: "The game just kept going back and forth, back and forth, and Julian Ciasullo hit a fadeaway 2-pointer in the lane, we went up, and then we played good defense for the three or four seconds left, just contained them, got the rebound, got the win."
--Props: "Brandon Thompson played phenomenal, Aidan Hood played great, Bob Hartman struggled offensively, but he was still locked in on defense and did a great job. (Julian) Ciasullo played great.
“Everybody contributed. The bench was great. They were ready to go and fought back and responded, especially in the two overtimes. It was a lot of minutes and a lot of ups and downs. I was really happy with how they responded as a group overall. They didn't roll over, they fought through it. They're very tough kids. All the credit to them. They’ve done a great job.”
Next up: Springfield Twp (8-6, 2-3 SOL) will travel to New Hope-Solebury Tuesday, and Council Rock North (4-1, 2-3) will be on the road at Bensalem Tuesday.

Central Bucks West 52, Wissahickon 42
After getting a much-needed win against Lower Moreland on Tuesday, CB West followed that up with an even better one, knocking off visiting Wissahickon at home in the final crossover nonleague games for both teams by a 52-42 final.
The Bucks, who led 22-18 at half and extended that led in with a big third quarter, had nine 3-pointers in the game. Roman Kulesa had three ‘3s’ and a game-high 17 points.
Key Players: For CB West, Roman Kulesa (17 points), Max Milillo (12 points). For Wissahickon, Nico Vacchiano (16 points).
CB West coach Adam Sherman on the win: “Nico (Vacchiano) is pretty talented for (Wissahickon). I thought we were really connected defensively as a team. We held them to 18 points in the first half and about 20 or a little more in the second half. The key was we were very connected defensively.
“We got balanced scoring tonight. In a couple of our games, only three or four guys scored for us. Tonight, multiple guys scored and they shared the ball.”
–Shooting well from the outside: “They played a lot of zone against us in the first half. That’s what they were giving us, and we were taking what they were giving. If they give you ‘3s’, you’ve got to take them.
“We do have good shooting. What’s been messing up is inexperience. In the beginning (of the season), our executive hasn’t been good. Kids shoot better when you’re in rhythm. Tonight, I thought we did a good job executing.
–Props: “Roman played well. Gavin Reichner gave us good minutes. Our freshman, John Vrettos, gave us good minutes. Harry Meyers, another freshman, played well. Connor Chuo shot the ball well for us.”
Next up: Wissahickon (6-8, 2-3 SOL) will host Central in a non-league game Saturday at 12:30 pm, and Central Bucks West (6-11, 0-5) will host North Penn Tuesday.
Wissahickon (42) - Mason Stelzer 2 0-0 5; Michael Maltin 1 3-5 5; Chris Lee 1 1-2 3; Owen Haughey 1 0-0 3; Nico Vacchiano 4 8-11 16; Ben Schwartz 3 3-4 9; Totals 12 15-22 42.

Pennridge 64, Quakertown 44
Some nights, teams just shoot the ball well. Pennridge picked Friday’s rivalry game with Quakertown at home to have its finest night from 3-point range all season and the result was a 64-44 victory.
The Rams had 11 3-pointers as a team by seven different players.
“We shot the ball as well as we have all year,” said Rams coach Dean Behrens. “I wouldn’t say we’re a prolific 3-point shooting team, but tonight, we shot extremely well. I do think we moved the ball well and we had step-in ‘3s’. I don’t think we forced bad ‘3s’.”
Key Players: For Pennridge, Xavier Peters (13 points), Ronan Smith (12 points).
For Quakertown, Sam Wilkin (19 points).
Pennridge coach Dean Behrens on the win: “I know modern basketball is dunk the ball or shoot the ‘3’, but I don't think we can rely on the ‘3’. We have to have a midrange game, and we have to be able to go to the basket. Tonight, we just shot the ball well.
“It was a ballgame. Quakertown was up 14-13 after the first quarter. I do think defense is the reason we won. We held Quakertown to two points in the second half. I know we shot the ball well, but I still feel like defense created our offense tonight.”
–Props: “It’s hard to pinpoint who didn’t play well for us tonight. Everybody played well. Obviously, it starts with Xavier, and Xavier got guys in the right position. He’s tough to take the ball off of - I think he had one turnover - he runs the show, sets our offense up and gets the ball to guys in the right positions.
“Ryan Schwind shot the ball well from ‘3’. Rownan shot it well from ‘3’. Connor Murray has been a consistent player for us, defensively and rebounding ,and he’s actually been our best 3-pointer all year. He’s shoots 51 percent.
“Ryan Flood had back-to-back ‘3s’ in the third quarter that helped us extend the lead. They called timeout and by the end of the third quarter, we were in cruise control. They didn’t hit shots, we did.
“It’s going to come down to division games for us. Our division is tough. The teams know the other teams so well - Souderton, North Penn, the CBs - we know each other pretty well. We’ve got our work cut out for us.”
Next up: Pennridge (9-6, 2-3 SOL) will host Souderton Tuesday, and Quakertown (2-12, 0-5) will be on the road at Lower Moreland for a non-league game Saturday (1:30 pm).
Quakertown (44) - Trae McCray 1 1-2 3; Aiden Burgy 1 1-2 4; Jamison Sykes 1 0-0 2; Sam Wilkin 6 4-6 19; Jaxon Torres 0 0-2 0; Colin Ficco 1 0-1 2; RJ Ficco 1 0-0 3; Mason Rush 3 4-4 11. Totals 14 10-17 44.

Harry S Truman 61, New Hope-Solebury 49
Trailing by four, 23-19, at halftime, Truman scored 42 points in the second half and pulled away from New Hope-Solebury on the road in a crossover game on Friday night.
The win was the second in a row for the Tigers this week.
Key Players: For Truman, Tre Winton (13 points), Adul-Aziz Diallo (13 points, 4 assists), Jaden Luchansky (9 points).
For New Hope, John Nettles (14 points).
Truman coach Randolph Jackson on the win: “Adul Diallo scored nine of his 13 in the third to give us the offense spark needed to control the lead, in addition to four assists. Tre Winton and Jaden Luchansky did a great job from the ‘3.’
“New Hope did a great job of making us play defense for extended periods. We made a few adjustments in the second half that led to easy transition points.
“Overall, a great team win with balanced scoring.”
Next up: Harry S Truman (7-9, 1-4 SOL) will travel to Bethlehem Catholic for a non-league game Saturday (1 pm).

Central Bucks South 56, Hatboro-Horsham 50
A double-figure lead at halftime looked pretty good for Central Bucks South at home and on Senior Night Friday. But the second half was anything but comfortable, as the Titans had to hold on to beat Hatboro-Horsham by six.
It was the 14th straight win for the Titans.
Key Players: For CB South, Brett Barrett (11 points), Alex Shahin (9 points), Ben Harrison (9 points).
For Hatboro-Horsham, Shane Phillips (22 points, 6 3-pointers).
CB South coach Louie Ditri said. “(H-H) had a good third quarter. Even in the fourth quarter, they battled. We were up 27-15 at halftime, but they came out in the third quarter - (Shane) Phillips had six 3-pointers. We tried to defend but didn’t do a good job of it.
“It was a six- or eight-point game late. They might have cut it to four, but we did well from the foul line - we made 17 of 22 - and the defense held on. We got a couple stops and had some big rebounds.
“The one thing we knew (about H-H), Bill Coleman has them playing hard. They gave effort, they were battling. I think we went 9-for-11 in the fourth quarter from the line and that helped us out.”
H-H coach Bill Coleman said: “A slow start got us tonight. We were much more aggressive and present in the second half.
“Last minute of the third quarter was a bit funky and took our guys a minute or two to recover from it. I do like how your guys stuck to the game plan despite the slow start.”
Next up: Central Bucks South (14-3, 5-0 SOL) will host Central Bucks East Tuesday, and Hatboro-Horsham (6-10, 1-4) will be on the road at Abington Tuesday.

Plymouth Whitemarsh 59, Central Bucks East 48
For the second time this week, Plymouth Whitemarsh went on the road for crossover games, and the Colonials left CB East Friday night with a solid win, the third straight since their loss to division rival Upper Dublin on Jan. 7.
Key Players: For PW, Mani Sajid (21 points), Michael Peirera (17 points).
For CB East, Shane O’Hara-Jamison (22 points), Nolan Behm (12 points).
PW coach Jim Donofrio on the win: "Both games this week are tough places to play, long drive. Two programs - Neshaminy and CB East tonight - are just extremely well coached, experienced in district and state play. We were very worried about the game tonight.
"We're very resilient. We seem to know how to win these games, but we are also right now our own worst enemy in terms of we shoot ourselves in the foot a lot. We can keep cleaning those up. We have yet to even come close to playing our best, complete game.
"I think we were 2-for-22 from the 3-line tonight. If you're going to do that and have a 10-point lead with 20 seconds to go, that's really good resiliency. There's something here. We're trying to get to the point - all the predictions were that we should be really good this year. We're not there, but we're working towards that, which I like.
"We go two steps up and one step back, but that's what young is. We're talented but young. This is not a typical team we've had where we have a gear we can hit that just goes to a whole another pace. This is a team that is evolving. While we can play full court, it really is a straight up half-court team that's going to have to get sophisticated at offense and running different offenses and defenses, following game plans to a T and that takes a while.
"If you look at the big picture at whatever wins we have now and losses. We were at Coatesville with no preparation for that game, and it's a two-possession game with three minutes to go. We have Bonner at home, and we're taking a 3 attempt to tie the game with a minute to go. For all my concerns of where we have to improve, that's a lot of good signs. We're right there. We're right there with everything new to us. We drive ourselves crazy, but your best days are ahead."
Next up: Plymouth Whitemarsh (12-4, 4-1 SOL) will host Quakertown Tuesday, and Central Bucks East (11-6, 2-3) will be on the road at Central Bucks South Tuesday.
PW (59) - Mani Sajid 21, Tyriq Taylor 1, Terron Davis 2, Eric Conicello 3, Michael Pereira 17, Ehab Ahmed 2, Buddy Denard 3, Caleb Bridgeman 2, Micah Thompson 2, Jack Hayes 6.
