Central Bucks West Comments
Laila Murray had a big game both in the circle and at the plate. Laila pitched five innings of one run softball, allowing only four hits while striking out nine batters. The run that scored off of Laila Murray was an unearned run that put West in an early 1-0 deficit after the first half inning of play. West plated three runs in the bottom of the first inning off of RBI singles from Ana Glemser, Laila Murray. Jill Boyle and Taylor Hooven also contributed hits in the inning. West got another run in the third inning when Laila Murray legged out a two out triple and scored when Taylor Hooven reached base on an error. The fifth inning was a big inning for West. They would score five runs in the fifth to build their lead to 9-1. That would end up being the final score for the game. In the fifth, Katherine James led off the inning with a double. Ana Glemser contributed an RBI single; catcher Sammy Hooven also drove in a run in the fifth with an RBI double. Avery Rubenstein got an RBI ground out in the inning and finally freshmen Taylor Sheplock plated two runs with a double to right center field which scored two runs. Kendall Kornuszko pitched the last two innings for West. It was the first varsity action for the sophomore, and she impressed by going two scoreless innings, allowing no hits, no walks and striking out three Truman batters. On the day, Ana Glemser, Laila Murray, Taylor Hooven and Sammy Hooven all contributed two hits. Ana, Laila and Taylor each drove in a run and Sammy Hooven drove in two. Taylor Sheplock went one for three on the day with a double and two RBIs.
