CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 14, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 6
The Titans rallied from an early 4-1 deficit to take a lead they would not lose in a five-run second. South pounded out 17 hits, led by Maddie McClintock’s four-hit effort. Maddie Motley had three hits.
Ella Wheeler’s grand slam in the top of the seventh put the finishing touches on the big win.
Brooke Taylor earned the complete game win.
For the Bucks, Sammy Hooven and Ana Glemser both had big days at the plate. Both had two hits – a double and home run. Hooven led the Bucks with four RBIs while Glemser had one.
By the numbers: Central Bucks South: Maddie McClintock (4-for-5, 2B, 1RBI), Ella Wheeler (2-for-4, HR, 5RBI, 2R), Erin Ruddell (2-for-3, 1RBI, 3R), Maura Fleming (2-for-5, 2RBI, 3R), Maddie Motley, 3-for-5, 2RBI, 1R), Kate Muntz (2-for-4, 2B, 1RBI, 2R)
Central Bucks West: Sammy Hooven (2-for-3, 2B, HR, 4RBI, 1R), Ana Glemser (2-for-3, 2B, HR, 1RBI, 1R), Marley Swain (1-for-2, 1RBI)
Key inning: Bottom of second: After the Bucks took a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the first, the Titans answered with five runs in the second. With one out, Chrissy Ivers walked, Muntz singled, and Ivers scored on Ruddell’s single. A second run scored on a fielder’s choice, and a third on Wheeler’s sac fly. Motley followed with an RBI single, and McClintock doubled to plate the fifth run that gave the Titans a 5-4 lead.
Central Bucks South coach Matt McLaughlin: “Great day and game today! I am so proud of this team. The culture is amazing, and the girls truly care about each other. There has been zero drama on our bench this year between the girls on this team. That is a testament to girls who care for one another. We have 17 on the varsity roster, and we have difficult decisions to make every day. We have beaten some of the tops teams in the league this year and have had many comeback wins. Our team is resilient and keeps fighting. Our pitching is heating up, and we have options. I have five girls I can confidently go to at any time - two seniors, Reily Theis and Chrissy Ivers, then a powerful junior, Brooke Taylor, and two amazing sophomores, Alexis Griffin and Maddie Motley. Maddie is so powerful in the batter’s box and at first base, and she has seen less opportunities lately, but I would go to her in two seconds if needed. “
--The game: “Today was a weird one. A big divisional game against CB West who has been hot lately. We took a 1-0 lead in top of first and then West pounced on us in the bottom of the first and scored a quick four runs with a few very hard-hit balls. They can hit 1-9. There isn’t a hole in their lineup. They are a strong team and have a very strong coaching staff lead by Mike Daher.”
Taylor delivers: “I preach a lot and try to put a positive spin on many things. I talk a lot about believing in our girls. Today Brooke Taylor, our sophomore pitcher, got rocked in the first inning. Nothing was working, and her pitches were missing her spots. West jumped on her and made her pay. Fortunately, she got the third out and ended the first inning. My initial gut was to pull her, but both Ali and John, our other coaches, said ‘Let’s see how she bounces back in the bottom of second.’ I completely agreed. We need to show these girls that we believe in them and see how they handle adversity. It turned out to be the right decision. She went the next six innings, completing the game and getting the win. I am so proud of her. She is on her way. She grew big time today. She spread seven hits over seven innings and was lights out after the first inning hiccup.
--What is: “We talk a lot about What is! I say it to the girls 100 times per week. What is? What is true…what is true you work hard, you are strong, you are valuable, you are loved by your friends and family and teammates. You are in the right spot and belong. What is true is the mentality they need to win. Tell the what ifs to beat it and remember what is true and everything else will work itself out.”
--Getting offensive: “We used small ball to get back into the game. Timely bunts and great base running. Then hitting the ball to the right side of the field to move runners and score runs. We were super aggressive on the bases. There must have been 4-5 plays at the plate. Today we won them all. We will be and are always going to be aggressive against good teams.
“Ella Wheeler is having an incredible season. Tonight, she continues to impress with two big hits and five RBIs to include an opposite field grand slam! She has a .440 avg and 23+ RBIs this season. Jefferson is so lucky to get this talent!
“Maddie Motley 3-for-5 with two more RBIs! This kid is a sophomore, and you can’t get her out. Big power and quiet leadership. She is going to be talked about for the next couple years. She is legit.
“Maura Fleming was 2-for-5 with two RBIs and super timely bunts! Kutztown - this is the steal of the draft aka recruiting season. Leader is an understatement when it comes to this player. She is all around what every team needs and wants. Congratulations to KU for getting her.
“Maddie McClintock was 4-for-5 and just continued to hammer pitches all season long! She is a huge part of our success. Team player and on fire this season.
“Kate Muntz was 2-for-4 with two more RBIs. This senior is confident and ready to roll. Great defense today as well. DeSales University, get ready. She is heating up and going to add big value to your organization.
“Kera Im was 1-for-5 but hit the ball hard all five times. She made adjustments, and it paid off. Her defense was also incredible at third base. Third game back from big injury. Upside and potential all day long with Kera.
“Can Lee continues to show me that she is best shortstop in the league! Insane athletic all around. Hit well today too
“Erin Ruddell, our freshman catcher, continues to shine. She is hands down the best freshman in the state. I would argue this and win every time. She was 2-for-3 with an RBI and walked two times. Since moving to leadoff position, she has been dominating. She also is lights out behind the plate. You don’t have to tell her anything. She will tell you. She is so smart. Newtown Rock travel is lucky to have her. Through 17 games, I can count on one hand the passed balls. Just insane skills and talent. Batting .386 with .500 OBS against top tier teams and pitching.
“The team all 17 are in it for each other. We can play chess with this roster. So proud of this group and can’t wait to see where this year takes us.
“Senior Night tomorrow. We get to honor six amazing young ladies. Let’s go South softball. Love this team!”

UPPER DUBLIN 5, QUAKERTOWN 1
Upper Dublin celebrated it seniors with a win on its new home turf. Those seniors included: Jules Curcio (manager), Bella Fiore (3B), Madden Reilly (catcher), Lizzie Tambourino (2B), Kaitlyn Zacharia (1B), Lucy Sternthal (manager).
“At the beginning of the year, it was hard to narrow down any dates because of the uncertainty of our field,” UD coach Heather Boyer said. “I didn’t even know if we’d be playing on it, so we were in a time crunch trying to pick a date.
“Because of the history of teams like Quakertown, Hatboro and PW, I think some of them were a little bit apprehensive at first to pick Quakertown, but now they’re finally playing with confidence and trusting their ability and their experience. They’re playing good softball, so it was a nice win against a team whose record does not show their effort. Obviously, they lost some key people from last year, but they still have some really good quality players, and they play good softball, so that was a big win for us today.”
The Cardinals took a 2-0 lead in the first when senior Bella Fiore hit a two-run home run. They upped that lead to 4-0 when Lizzie Tambourino hit a two-run single in the third inning, and the Cardinals led 5-0 after Kate Brannigan delivered a sac fly in the fifth.
The Panthers lone run came in the sixth when Kira Jefferson, who led off the inning with a bunt single, advanced on a single by Leah Schwalm and scored on a single by Gianna Santangelo.
Kyla Garrison notched the complete game win, allowing five hits and one run.
By the numbers: Upper Dublin: Bella Fiore (1-for-1, HR, 2RBI, 2R), Lizzie Tambourino (1-for-2, 2RBI) Sophia Vitella (1-for-3, 2B).
Kyla Garrison (W) (7 IP, 5H, 1R, 1ER, 3BB, 8K)
Quakertown Ava Eatherton (1-for-3, 2B)
Key inning: Bottom of first: Madden Reilly drew a leadoff walk, and with two outs, Bella Fiore hit a two-run home run to give the Panthers a lead they would not lose.”
Upper Dublin coach Heather Boyer on Senior Day: “It was a good game from the start. We got out of the first inning 1-2-3, and then in the bottom of the first inning, Bella Fiore hit a two-out, two-run home run over the center field fence. The look on her face was just pure joy. She’s the first player to hit a home run on the new field, so that’s kind of fun.
“All four of our seniors contributed, which was really nice too. They’ve been starters since freshman year, so it’s not surprising.
“Madden Reilly was 1-for-3 with a single, and she’s just been stellar behind the plate her entire career but especially this year. Her game has elevated offensively and defensively. She’s done an amazing job working with Kyla (Garrison).
“Kaitlyn Zacharia, who is our two-hole hitter, was 1-for-3 with a run scored, and she just plays a terrific first base.
“Lizzie Tambourino has had an outstanding season, and of all four seniors, she is the most improved player throughout the course of the four years. She has really come of age this year. She had an amazing at-bat in the third inning with a full count. She battled off probably four or five pitches before she clutched in on a two-run single with two outs to make it 4-0.”
--The turning point: “Lizzie Tambourino’s hit was a really pivotal moment. It took the two-run lead we got earlier and gave us a little more breathing room because at the end of the day, Quakertown had more runners left on base than we did. They left seven – we left six. They played a pretty clean. They only had one error, and it was on a hard-hit ball. Their pitchers pounded the zone. We only had six hits. When you look at the numbers, we had six, they had five. We were able to capitalize on a couple of walks and a couple of timely extra-base hits, and Bella had the home run.”
Up next: Upper Dublin (11-4, 7-1 SOL) will host Hatboro-Horsham Thursday, and Quakertown (5-12, 3-5) will host Wissahickon on Thursday (7 pm).

PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 6, HATBORO-HORSHAM 3
The Hatters took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, but the Colonials answered with a run in the bottom of the inning. That 2-1 score stood until the bottom of the third when Madison Moran doubled home the tying run, and Anna Powel hit a two-out RBI single. The Colonials led the rest of the way.
Moran and Jenna Yoblan’s two-hit efforts led PW. Rian Reed earned the win in the circle.
Madison Karpovich was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs to lead the Hatters.
By the numbers: Plymouth Whitemarsh: Madison Moran (2-for-3, 2B, 1RBI, 1R), Rian Reed (2-for-3, 2RBI), Jenna Yablon (2-for-3, 2B, 2R)
Rian Reed (W) (6.2 IP, 7H 3R, 1ER, 2BB, 7K)
Hatboro-Horsham: Madison Karpovich (3-for-4, 2B, 2RBI), Adriana DeLeon (1-for-2, 2B, 1R)
Key inning: Bottom of third: Madison Moran hit a two-out RBI double and scored when Reed followed with a single to put the Colonials on top 3-2.
Bottom of the fourth: Yablon led off with a double, and Emily Dobrowolski walked. With two outs, Anna Powel hit a two-run single, giving PW a 5-2 lead.
Plymouth Whitemarsh coach Mike Perez on the game: “I was really proud of the girls today for a hard-fought league win vs a scrappy and well-coached Hatboro-Horsham team. With all this rain, we haven’t been on the field in a few days, and the girls are really looking forward to Senior Night tomorrow, so I was nervous this could be a trap game for us. I knew HH would come in amped up and they were. Then after the first three batters (walk, three-base error, RBI single to put them up 2-0) I thought we really settled in. Rian Reed did a nice job in the circle and the defense behind her rebounded quite nicely.
“It still took us a while to get going offensively though. Kennedy (Conn) did a great job moving the ball in and out and blowing the ball by us. She had 6 Ks in the first two innings! But our offense did a nice job adjusting the second time through the line-up, worked some good counts, and made really nice contact.
“Two of our seniors, Madison Moran and Rian Reed, had back-to-back hits in the first to score a run, and again in the third inning to score 2 more runs. Anna Powel was on base both times and her courtesy runner, Addie Antenucci, was as really hustling around the bases.”
Delivering in the clutch: “My favorite sequence of the game was the bottom of the fourth. We were up 3-2 and had planned on bunting the first few batters. Senior Jenna Yablon got two strikes on her and switched the plan with nice hustle double into left. Emily Dobrowolski was up there to bunt her over but patiently worked a walk instead. Our leadoff hitter, Zoey Robinson, unselfishly bunted them both over and two batters later Anna Powel delivered a two-run clutch hit to put us up 5-2.”
--Props: “Rian Reed spread 7 hits over 6.2 innings for only 1 earned run and 7 K. And Madison Moran came in for the 1-out save.
“Offensively, we were led by Anna Powel’s two RBIs and two runs scored. And Madison Moran, Rian Reed and Jenna Yablon all with two hits apiece.”
Hatboro-Horsham coach Bob Sadowl: “Props to Plymouth Whitemarsh for keeping the pressure on and taking advantage of any mistakes.”
Up next: Plymouth Whitemarsh (11-5, 8-0 SOL) will host Abington Thursday, and Hatboro-Horsham (8-9, 3-5) will be on the road at Upper Dublin Thursday.

Sophia Magagna was equally productive at the plate, finishing the day 3-for-4 with a double, four RBIs and three runs scored.
By the numbers: Upper Moreland: Delaney Stout (W) (7.0 IP, 1H, 0R, 1BB, 15K, 4-for-5, 2B, 3B, 4RBI

HARRY S TRUMAN 11, GWYNEDD MERCY 9
Truman won for the third time in four games, this time a non-league road win at GMA.
The Tigers opened up a 9-1 lead and still led 11-3 when the Monarchs capitalized on some Tiger miscues to make it an 11-9 game, but they held on for the win.
Kaitlyn Erhard’s three-hit day led the Tigers, who collected 15 hits.
By the numbers: Harry S Truman: Kaitlyn Erhard (3-for-5, 1RBI, 2R), Lucianna Oliveras (2-for-4, 1R), Braelyn Horan (2-for-4, 3RBI, 1R), Charlize DeShield (2-for-3, 1RBI, 1R), Caitlyn Smith (2-for-3, 1RBI, 1R)
Key inning: Top of fourth: DeShield led off the inning with a single, stole second and scored when Smith followed with a single. With one out, Oliveras singled, and Jillyan Saperstein’s bunt single loaded the bases. With two outs, Skyler Mahler drew a bases-loaded walk to plate a run. Alexa Lavertu reached first on a dropped third strike, and Horan followed with a two-run single that gave the Tigers a 7-1 lead.
Harry S Truman coach Jim McKeon: “We played well when we had to and got the job done. It shouldn’t have been 11-9, but I don’t want to take anything away from them because their girls played hard.
“Our standouts showed up – our girls that hit the ball did their thing.”
--Props: “Cait Smith is our nine hitter, and she’s playing good softball. Today she was 2-for-3 with an RBI and scored a run. She just plays hard, and she’s made noticeable improvements from last year to this year. She’s a senior, so it’s nice to see.
“Our leadoff, Earhart, again had three hits, and Braelyn Horan, who hits in our seven hole, is just tearing it up.
“We brought up a JV catcher. Alexis Lavertu, a sophomore. She got behind the plate and gave Mahler a break from catching, and she did a really good job too. She did a fantastic job behind the plate. She was 1-for-4, scored a run and did her job for a player that doesn’t play a lot of varsity. I was pleased with that, for sure.”
--Tip of the hat to GMA – “I’ll tell you this about that team - they are way better than their record indicates. They should win more games than they won. I can tell that just by the way they played. They threw three pitchers at us, and they kept us guessing. We stole a lot of bases, but they didn’t stop playing.”
Up next: Harry S Truman (6-10, 2-6 SOL) will travel to Neshaminy on Thursday.

NESHAMINY 4, NOTRE DAME (NJ) 3
The Redskins staged a seventh inning rally to eke out a win in Wednesday’s non-league game. The gutsy win came less than 24 hours after a wild night game against rival Pennsbury (a 15-10 loss).
The ‘Skins trailed 3-2 heading into the top of the seventh when they scored a pair.
“I am very proud of my team today,” Neshaminy coach Sarah Martucci said. “It would have been an easy day for us to hand over a game because we were tired or frustrated from the outcome the night before, but my girls showed a lot of fight in them to win that game. “Adriana Superka threw an amazing game on the mound, and we did what we needed to do offensively to come out on top.”
Superka notched the complete game win, allowing six hits and two earned runs. She did not walk a batter and struck out five.
Addie Pennisi and Kendall McCafferty both had two hits. Jill Rickards had two RBIs.
By the numbers: Neshaminy: Addie Pennisi (2-for-4, 1R), Kendall McCafferty (2-for-3, 1RBI), Jill Rickards (2 RBIs)
