On Thursday, Feb. 20, 2025, Central Bucks West senior Kaylie Polchan was recognized for committing to continue her track & field career at Ithaca College.

Reasons for choosing Ithaca: “The location, the facilities, the coaches, and its track team’s reputation.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in track & field at the collegiate level? “I started thinking about it in the winter of my junior year. I was starting to get reached out to from schools,
and it made me realize it was a possibility.”
Coach Kevin Munnelly says: “Kaylie has been with us four years, and from someone who was really learning how to throw the shot put, she just continued to move on. I’m most appreciative of her parents and Kaylie taking summers at Shippensburg to go to shot put clinics and learn even more. She then spreads that knowledge with the other athletes who throw, and she has been someone other athletes can look up to, a role model. She continued to improve, and this year, in spite of an injury, she even worked harder at it. She was just relentless on keeping improving how far she throws the shot especially. Discus and javelin, yes, but mainly the shot.”
Coach Jim Crawford Jr says: “We don’t have discus and javelin in the wintertime, so she works at all of them. She’s very interested in the sport itself, and she follows what other people are doing. Her parents come out and watch her at the meets. We don’t get a whole lot of fans coming out to the track meets, especially the dual meets. They’re there and very interested, and she’s there every day. It’s a shame she had the ankle problem this winter. She couldn’t really run at all or do anything other than throw, but she was on the bike every day to get better and also to warm up, so she wasn’t throwing cold.”
