On Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2024, Wissahickon’s Adam Hajdak was recognized for committing to continue his baseball career at Millersville University.
Adam Hajdak – Millersville University (Baseball)
Major: Computer-Aided Drafting & Design (CADD)
Final list of colleges: Millersville, Thomas Jefferson, Lebanon Valley, East Stroudsburg
Reasons for choosing Millersville: “I chose Millersville University because of the excellent academic program that will help me to pursue a career in Industrial Design, the amazing baseball program with a great coaching staff and a campus that already feels like home. I went to three separate baseball prospect camps at Millersville and took an individualized tour of the CADD program with one of the professors. Ever since I discovered Millersville, I have felt a strong connection.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in baseball at the collegiate level? “I have always loved baseball. I am almost always on the diamond, and when I’m not playing, I am still playing a baseball video game, watching baseball or gaining more knowledge of the game. I knew I wanted to play at the collegiate level, but I never expected to play for such an amazing program like Millersville’s.
“I was introduced to the college baseball scene about two years ago by my tournament team, the Ambler Boilermakers, where we went to showcase tournaments with college coaches to scout players. I started going to individual college baseball showcases around that time as well. There I met and learned from college coaches about how to get recruited and improve. My list of schools I was interested in was limited because Industrial Design-related majors are very rare amongst colleges. My dad was a major contributor in helping me to find and map out all the information for all the schools. When my family and I discovered Millersville, we immediately knew that it was one of our favorite universities.”
Coach Andy Ngo: “Adam was a four-year varsity player for us coming up as a freshman when we needed someone who could throw multiple pitches for strikes. He took that opportunity and ran with it as he was at the top of our pitching staff the next three years. Adam was the first pitcher in my career as a head coach to hit the 100-strikeout milestone. He could swing it too. He was in the middle of our lineup the last two years and consistently gave us quality at bats. His commitment to his academics, the weight room and his overall craft as a pitcher helped him earn the opportunity to pitch at the next level at Millersville. We are all excited to see what he will do next.”
