Hatboro-Horsham's Bynum & Rash to Play Collegiate Football

On Thursday, May 15, 2025, Hatboro-Horsham seniors Dan Rash & Mason Bynum were recognized for committing to play collegiate football.

Mason Bynum – East Stroudsburg (Football)
Major:
Finance
Final list of colleges: East Stroudsburg, Moravian, West Chester
Reasons for choosing East Stroudsburg: “I tore my meniscus senior year, and every other school was iffy about it, and they stuck by my side the entire time, so I knew it was home. They’re big on family, and I already know people who go there, so that helped too.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in football at the collegiate level? “I knew I wanted to play football my junior year because I wasn’t going to play, but Coach Butts told me to give it another chance. I fell in love with it again, and I knew I wanted to continue playing because I just loved the sport.”
Coach Tom Butts: “Mason had a really great junior year, and we expected huge things out of him. He was unbelievable in the offseason in the weight room and everything we did as far as getting ready for the season. Unfortunately, he injured his knee about two weeks before camp. He rehabbed the heck out of it. They thought there was a chance if he didn’t get surgery he’d be able to rehab it and get it back and be able to play. Unfortunately, he played about six plays in the fourth game of the year and then completely tore it and ended up being done for the year.”

Dan Rash – Muhlenberg College (Football)
Major:
Undecided
Final list of colleges: Muhlenberg, Ursinus
Reasons for choosing Muhlenberg: “The opportunity for sports and the facilities on campus.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in football at the collegiate level? “Around my junior year I decided I wanted to do it because I missed out on my junior year after getting injured, so I decided –I’m not going to leave it on that. Senior year wasn’t the best year we had, and that’s not how I wanted to end my football career.”
Coach Tom Butts: “Danny was a kid that got hurt as a junior and missed a significant part of the year with an ACL injury but battled back. He’s a weight room warrior, a great kid, a great leader. He was a team captain for us and a second team all-league kid. I’m really excited for him to get a chance to play at the next level.”
