On Thursday, May 29, 2025, Central Bucks West senior Francis Grasso was recognized for committing to continue his track & field career at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Francis Grasso – Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Track & Field)
Major: Aerospace & Mechanical Engineering
Final list of colleges: RPI, Johns Hopkins, Tufts, University of Rochester
Reasons for choosing RPI: “It had the best strength in the engineering and the track program. RPI has recently gotten a lot better at track. Their coach is really good, especially in the sprints program which I will be going into. They also have a top-notch engineering program. The combination of those two drew me to RPI.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in track & field at the collegiate level? “It was probably going into my junior year when I started really doing well in track, started running fast times. I started getting emails from coaches, and I realized I can actually do this, and I could see what I could do with this. It eventually turned into going on a bunch of visits and committing for track.”
Coach James Boulton: “I’ve coached Francis for the last four years in the sprints department. He has been an upstanding team captain for the last two years. He’s shown great leadership skills, and he’s received multiple high compliments from coaches for his leadership skills. He started as an average sprinter in the beginning, and he’s grown substantially – he qualified for districts last year and this year and led two relays to the district and state championships indoors. A lot of the guys speak highly of Francis as a team leader, and they will miss him.”
