On Tuesday, May 20, 2025, Hatboro-Horsham senior Madison Karpovich was recognized for committing to continue her softball career at York College of Pennsylvania.
Madison Karpovich – York College of Pennsylvania (Softball)
Major: Psychology with a minor in Business Management
Final list of colleges: York, Iona, Rowan, Holy Family
Reasons for choosing York: “Definitely the coaching staff had a huge impact, and the players there made everything feel like home. Everyone is included in everything, and they’re really a hardworking team.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in softball at the collegiate level? “I started playing softball when I was four years old, and I’ve loved it ever since. I always knew that I wanted to do something with it when I got older. When I was about 12, I decided I was going to play in college, and that’s when I started taking it more seriously, and I played for high level travel teams.”
Coach Bob Sadowl: “York is very lucky to be getting a kid like Madison because I think she could have played at a higher level school, but that’s why they make vanilla and chocolate ice cream – it’s whatever fits for the kid. Madison was a leader on the field, and she has a good knowledge of the game.
“She hit very well for us, and she did a great job behind the plate. She caught every inning of every game. She’s kind of a no-nonsense kind of player. She gets her work done, and she isn’t one to hear excuses from other players. I was born and raised in Philly, and she’s a good Philly kid, if you ask me.
“Madison is going to do well at York. They’re getting the total package. She has a good arm, and she’s smart with her throws to first and third on pickoffs. She’s got a good eye, and she has a good read of the game. She sees things sometimes I’d even miss. She’s a great kid.”
