PENNSBURY FIELD HOCKEY PREVIEW

The coaching staff: Pennsbury High School head coach Traci Curtis and coaching team have been building and growing their program from the inside out since 2019. Founded on a philosophy of encouraging female athletes to become the best version of themselves on and off the field while simultaneously growing in the sport, PHS field hockey is forging a very strong path of success. The Falcons put an exclamation point on the 2024 season, earning their first playoff berth and are riding that wave of intensity right into 2025 with all eyes looking straight ahead. The Falcons 2025 theme is THE TIME IS NOW - No One Waits, chosen carefully as they move full speed ahead with a shared vision of excellence, execution, and energy. The coaching staff is embracing the theme as they return with renewed expectation and focus, ready to take everything to the next level.
Lori Riley is the assistant varsity coach, while Lauren Gerth heads the JV team with the help of recent Wilson College field hockey graduate Hannah Aker. Andy Vradenburgh will use his goalkeeping knowledge and commitment to the program to train the goalies, and Beth Golder has joined the staff to assist across the board. In addition, coaches Vanessa Fry and Vanessa Stack will work together at the JV-B level to continue to develop future players.

The players: Pennsbury enters this season with a tight, streamlined roster ready to get the job done. Returning juniors Abby Iacona and Ryan Burdette will bring speed, smarts, and skill in all the right places. They work alongside a super strong force of fellow junior returners Ava Pinto, Regan Rodriguez, Mallory Harrison and senior Abby Anderer. Coaches cannot wait to put together combinations and create magic up front. This well-oiled offensive machine will welcome new sophomores Leila Curtis, Lily Fanini, and Allie Fouss, who are falling right in step and filling the gaps perfectly. On defense, returning junior Cailyn Reilly will be the lighthouse for her backfield unit which includes senior Abby Hicks and juniors Payton Worth, Joley Hohman, and Nandi Ntshalintshali. Returning senior goalie Abby McCole and junior goalie Amelia Fernandes will take care of business in the cage and protect their house as tight partners in crime.
Our 2025 roster is strongly supported by two senior practice player/managers, Danielle Morgan and Caelan Henderson, who have dedicated themselves to helping us succeed every step of the way. Their incredible sportsmanship models the importance of every contribution to the greater good. The PHSFH family locked in this summer together to live that out and set the tone.

The season: It is always difficult to make predictions about the season and schedule with the constant ebb and flow of programs in the SOL. As proud Falcons, we strive to stay true to who we are and remember our purpose and vision. We packed our schedule with games that will challenge us to the highest degree in order to compete, gain respect, and prove to ourselves what we are capable of achieving. Each season is a fresh start and a chance to once again create something awesome together.
We look forward to what lies ahead and wish all teams the best as we move into the 2025 field hockey season.
