Game One: Saturday, July 18, 2009

HATFIELD 13, BOYERTOWN 3 (8 innings)

Matt Albaugh’s three-run home run with one out in the eighth inning brought an early end to Saturday’s tournament opener between the Bux-Mont Tournament champions against the Berks County Tournament champs.
It was the third three-run home run of the day for Hatfield, which was led to the impressive win by the stellar effort of pitcher Eric Ruth. Hatfield’s mound ace scattered five hits and fanned 17 in a remarkable outing. Take away a three-run home run by Boyertown clean-up batter Ethan Moser in the fourth, and Ruth – who fanned two or more in every inning but the eighth – was just about perfect.
Scott Christy ignited Hatfield’s offense with a three-run home run in the first after Robbie Zinsmeister drew a four-pitch walk and Chris Edgar singled. By the time the game was over, Christy had five RBIs – four in the first inning.
Ruth helped his own cause with a three-run home run in the first, and when Christy grounded an RBI single to left – his second hit of the first inning, Hatfield led 9-0 and never looked back.
Zinsmeister, Edgar and Joe Forcellini paced Hatfield’s 13-hit attack with three hits each.

Game 4: Saturday, July 18, 2009

NOR-GWYN 12, TWIN VALLEY 1 (7 innings)

Mike Bradstreet took a no-hitter into the sixth inning of Saturday’s nightcap. In seven superb innings, the Hawks’ ace allowed just two hits. Twin Valley scored its only run in the seventh off Bradstreet, who fanned six and walk five in a stellar outing.
Steve Dale’s grand slam home run in the first after three walks loaded the bases propelled Nor-Gwyn to a quick 4-0 lead. Later that inning, Alex Summers hit a two-run home run, and by the time the inning was over, the Hawks led 7-0. They never looked back, adding three runs in the fifth and two more in the seventh.
