Central Bucks South 12, Souderton 11
The Titans rebounded from a 14-6 loss to the Indians in the first go-round in Continental Conference play to come back and edge the Indians in Friday’s rematch.
“Every game we’ve gotten better,” coach Janique Craig said. “That loss to Souderton was good for them.
“Souderton is big, they’re tough, they’re aggressive, and they like to double team. We just had to make sure we spread the field. We worked as a team, and we made sure we got the pass out before the double team. They have been successful at double and triple teaming, and we were aware of that.”
The story of the game for the Titans was goalie Jess Adcock. The senior goalkeeper turned away 18 shots in a stellar outing.
“She was phenomenal,” Craig said. “She came out of the cage. If there was an overthrow, she would pick it up, and she came up with big saves at the end of the game. She does a lot of things that you don’t notice.
“She had a fantastic game.”
Three players contributed the hat trick for the Titans – Kelly Hamilton, Maddie Dibrino and Taylor Michener. Hamilton also had three assists. Kayla Kenney had two goals and two assists while Casey Haegele had one goal and two assists.
“Each player contributed and played well today,” Craig said.
North Penn 9, Hatboro-Horsham 6
The Maidens held a tenuous one-goal lead at halftime (4-3) but extended that lead in the second half to earn the big win over the surging Hatters.
“My defense played out of their minds,” Hatboro coach Marie Schmucker said. “But there was no offense. We were averaging between 16 and 19 goals a game.”
Dani Horn led the Indians with the hat trick while Rachel Shaw and Garrie Grenfell each added a pair. Brenda McDermott and Stacey Pellechia both had one goal. Halie Lear had an assist.
Sarah Tustin scored a pair of goals to lead the Hatters.
Maiden goalie Sarah Prall turned away five shots, and coach Jami Wilus lauded the defensive effort of Kaitlin Colbridge.
The Maidens held a 21-5 advantage in shots.
