2010 SOL Girls' BB Wrap 12-27-10

Cheltenham 64, Friere Charter 31

Christina Coleman had a breakout game for the Lady Panthers in the West Chester Holiday Tournament on Monday. The junior forward scored a game-high 21 points, which included 11 points in a third quarter that saw the Lady Panthers outscore their opponent 18-7.
“This was a big step up for Christina,” coach Bob Schaefer said.
The Lady Panthers led 12-10 at the end of one quarter but stretched that lead to 31-18 by halftime on their way to the lopsided win.
Ciara 'CC' Andrews added 14 points and Austen Hamler, 10 points. Tiffany Johnson contributed seven points and Jiana Clark, six points.
Cheltenham will face Notre Dame Academy on Tuesday.
Sherwood 49, Upper Merion 44
Cassidy Koenig connected on four three-pointers in the second half en route to a team-high 18 points, but it wasn’t enough to propel the Vikings to a win over the host team in the Sherwood Holiday Tournament.
Sherwood, which boasted a pair of players who measured in at 6-2, won the game by burying five straight foul shots down the stretch, breaking a 44-44 tie with two minutes remaining.
“It was an up and down game,” coach Tom Schurtz said. “We have basically been in every game we’ve played this year.
“We’re getting production from other players. We just have to start winning a couple of these close games. The girls played hard – it was a very physical game.”
Kristina O’Sullivan – despite foul woes - added 12 while sophomore Jackie VanLoan added eight points.
