VARSITY BOYS: Colonials Sweep Quality Rams with Hot-Shooting Duncan
NORRISTOWN,PA= PBA hopeful Ryan Ross had never been on a Pennridge boys bowling team that were swept by Plymouth Whitemarsh during his previous seven matches against PW in his three and one half seasons. However, on this Monday January 24,2011, Plymouth Whitemarsh swept Ross and the Rams (2,799-2,962) 4-0, as PW Junior David Duncan recorded a PW 2010-2011 season individual-high series of 651 with performances of 182, 232,and 237. Alex Lesse had a 625 series on 222, 182, and 215 for the Colonials, as well as Pat Galleo rolling 203,213, and 175 for 591. Ross, playing in his last-ever match against the Colonials, known as the Rams' leading scorer, did not reach over 200 for a 581 series, the third best for the Rams behind Matt Trumbower's 582 and Justin Pellow's 586. VARSITY GIRLS: No Time Like the Present as Rams' Stevens Rolls 603 Series to Tumble Host Lady Colonials
NORRISTOWN,PA= When Pennridge last played Plymouth Whitemarsh in Girls Bowling, the Lady Rams hosted PW in which the Lady Colonials defeated the Lady Rams, 2-2 on a nine-pin advantage on December 15,2010, at Earl Bowl. In that match, Jenn Stevens rolled a 484 series with 188 as her hghest game as the Rams' leading scorer.
Let's warp to Monday January 24,2011 at Facenda Whitaker Lanes when Pennridge visited Plymouth Whitemarsh. The Lady Rams sported their new black jerseys with last names and graduation years on the sleeves, had a better outing this time against the host Lady Colonials (2,289-2,251) 3-1. Jenn Stevens was the deciding factor in a wire-to-wire first game, when her 218 took Pennridge to a dramatic 761-754 game win. Stevens' 191 and 194 were not shabby either in games 2 and 3, in which she earned perhaps her first 600+ series in 2010-2011.
Senior Lauren Enslin led PW with a 190 game 2, and 581 series, but the highest individual Lady Colonial performance of the match belonged to then-game 2 Alternative (JV 2) bowler Nikki Martini with 196. Martini, a member of PW's class of 2014, was promoted to make her Varsity debut in game 3, where she contributed with 135. Lady Colonials Junior Jaela Levin made her Varsity debut in game 2, where she completed the first six frames for 131.
PW freshman Jamie Pugielli placed a solid effort that included performances of 155, 180, and 141 for a 476 series. Plymouth Whitemarsh will next host a match on Wednesday January 26,2011 (weather permitting) against Abington.
