On Feb. 11, 2011, Central Bucks East senior Brittany Meyer was recognized at a special news conference for signing a letter of intent to play field hockey at St. Joseph’s University.
Brittany Meyer – St. Joseph’s University (Field Hockey)
Major: Undecided
Final list of colleges: St. Joe’s, Temple, Drexel
Reasons for choosing St. Joe’s: “It was just always something I wanted to go there. I like the city. I knew as soon as I went on my official. The team was awesome. All the girls were really inviting, and since I was really undecided when I went there, they brought me in as one of their teammates already. It was just an awesome experience.”
When did the idea of playing college field hockey start to become a reality? “I started playing field hockey when I was in fourth grade. Ever since then, I’d always see all the college girls and watch their games, and I just thought it was amazing. I always wanted to go to a D-1 school. It was an accomplishment I wanted to make. I know some of the other girls who are signing, and we’re so excited to be on that team.”
Coach Marie Meehan says: “Briittany loves her sport and desires strongly to play at St. Joseph's University. She enjoys focusing on developing her skills to make her game the best it can be. She has dedicated free time to the game, and I'm happy she has the opportunity to advance to the next level. Brittany was very involved in the East field hockey program, playing in every opportunity offered and assisting the younger players interested in the game.”
