On Feb. 10, 2011, North Penn senior Elizabeth Fedele was recognized at a special news conference for signing a letter of intent to play field hockey at the University of North Carolina.
Elizabeth Fedele – University of North Carolina (Field Hockey)
Major: Nursing
Final list of colleges: North Carolina, Duke
Reasons for choosing North Carolina: “I have always wanted to go to the University of North Carolina. I love the place – it’s beautiful, the academics are great, and they have a great field hockey team. It just seemed like the right fit.”
When did the idea of playing collegiate field hockey become a reality? “It was always a dream of mine to play field hockey in college, but it never seemed real or that I would be good enough until I started talking to coaches my sophomore year.”
What will you take with you that you learned at North Penn? "Definitely to work hard and to hold myself to my highest standard - not to be the best player on the field but to be the best that I can be."
Coach Carrie Jankowski says: “I sort of feel I’ve spent the last months saying amazing things about Elizabeth, but really I could say amazing things about her for the next month two. The last four years really were my pleasure. One of my favorite things to say about her is that she’s one of the best coaches on the field I have ever had. She really tries to inspire the people around her to be better field hockey players as well as being the best field hockey player she could be, and that was simply a pleasure to be around.”
