Jamie Burns exploded for six goals - singlehandedly matching the Green Hornets’ total offensive output – to lead the Patriots. Lauren Wicks added a pair of goals while Carrie Gillen and Carolyn Remmey both added single goals.
Remmey had a hand in six of East’s 10 goals as she also handed out five assists. Gillen and Marissa Glatt each had an assist as well. CB East goalie Madie Steuber turned away nine shots.
Coach Megan Macauley credited her entire defensive unit – Steuber in cage and Mara Scaliti, Megan Starner and Kady Warsavage - for its performance.
“Jordan Sanocki and Lauren Wick controlled the midfield and fed to the dynamic duo of Carolyn Remmey and Jamie Burns to clinch the win,” the Patriots’ coach said.
The Patriots held a tenuous 4-3 halftime lead but outscored the visiting Green Hornets 6-3 in the second half on their way to the big win.
Council Rock North 9, West Chester Rustin 7
Sparked by the five-goal, one-assist effort of Kara Magley, the Indians rebounded from their overtime loss to Hatboro on Friday to defeat Rustin in a non-league game on Saturday. Lindsay Rheiner and Becky Ely each added a pair of goals with Ely also contributing three assists. Mikaela Gribbin and Jackie Strange also contributed one assist each.
Goalie Taylor Beck turned away five shots for the Indians, who trailed 5-2 at the the intermission but scored six unanswered goals in the second half to seize control of the game. Rock North outscored Rustin 7-2 in a dominant second-half effort.
