West goalie Jake Ross turned away 15 shots and allowed just one goal in a brilliant effort to lead the Bucks to the hard-fought win. His play of the night, according to coach Matt Coverdale, may have been a full field clear pass to attackman Nate Weiss for the Bucks’ final goal of the night.
Coverdale also lauded the superb defensive efforts of Johnny Kirchner, Mike Carty, Tyler Zalucki, Ward Udinski, Matt Emery and Will Bone.
The Bucks received single goals from Weiss, Spencer Macquarrie, Evan Gervais and Riley Kratske. Tim McIlhenny scored Souderton’s lone goal.
The Indians played some excellent defense of their own, and coach Todd Pettit lauded the standout effort of Kyle Dusseliere. Goalie Grant Nice was credited with nine saves.
West held a slim 22-10 advantage in shots on goal.
Central Bucks East 11, North Penn 2
The Patriots – who received goals from eight different players – sprinted to a 4-0 lead at the end of one quarter and extended that lead to 8-1 by halftime on their way to the decisive win.
“Our whole team participated in the victory,” East coach Bruce Garcia said. “It was a nice win for the boys.”
Matt Brodzik, Ethan Debuque and Warren Kuhn each scored a pair of goals, and Parker Self, Sean Reilly, Matt Heim, Chris Vetter and Ryan Whitney each added one goal. Vetter also had four assists while Brodzik and Kuhn both had two.
Chris Young and Sean Adams accounted for North Penn’s goals.
East goalie Sean McSherry turned away three shots while North Penn’s Mike Tappen made three stops.
East returns to action on Tuesday when the Patriots will travel to Hatboro-Horsham for a 3:30 p.m. contest.

GIRLS’ LACROSSE
North Penn 11, Ridley 8
Macie Hauck said the Maidens got a little ‘sloppy.’
“We started dropping the ball, and we started doing whatever we wanted,” the Maidens’ senior captain said. “We just weren’t organized.”
Teammate Brenda McDermott blamed it on a drop off in intensity.
“We saw we were up by eight goals, and we were like, ‘Okay, we have a little cushion,” the Maidens’ junior midfielder said.
A little of both may have contributed to a Ridley comeback that saw the Green Raiders rally from an 8-0 deficit to make it a 9-6 game.
“I think we got a little tentative,” coach Jami Wilus said. “They started coming back, and instead of continuing to put the pressure on and play the way we did the first 15 minutes of the game – I think we got a little nervous with the ball, and we started to make some bad decisions on the offensive end.
“Their goalie (Meghan Pitts) came up with some big saves. She was stepping out of the crease a lot, and we were shooting into her instead of around her.”
Despite the Green Raiders’ impressive comeback, the Maidens – thanks to their dazzling 8-0 start - still found themselves on top when the final whistle sounded, and no one was complaining about a win over the Central League school.
“Like our coach said, ‘a win is a win,’” said McDermott, who contributed three goals and an assist. “We’re definitely going to come (out and) practice hard tomorrow. Next week is a big week, and we just have to keep going.”
Hauck scored four of her game-high five goals in the Maidens’ 8-0 start while senior Garrie Grenfell and McDermott each added a pair.
“The first 15 minutes of the game – that was North Penn lacrosse,” Hauck said. “It was our ‘A’ game.”
The Green Raiders put their ‘A’ game on display the final 10 minutes of the half, scoring four unanswered goals to make it an 8-4 game at the intermission.
Twice they pulled to within three in the second half (9-6 and 10-7). Rachel Shaw responded with a goal to stretch the lead to 10-6, and it was Hauck connecting on her fifth goal to make it an 11-7 game and all but ice the win.
“We lost a lot of players from last year, and we have a couple of freshmen starting,” Hauck said. “With Steph Knauer out (injury), we have another player coming off the bench.
“Leadership is definitely a key thing out there. When we were not organized – that’s when it starts getting sloppy, and a few people have to pick it up and lead the team.”
Maiden sophomore Jenna Stover turned away nine shots in goal for the Maidens.
Springfield (Montco) 15, Plymouth Whitemarsh 4
In a rematch of former SOL American Conference rivals, the Spartans – sparked by the five-goal effort of Anna Studenmond – had the upper hand.
Michelle Sturm, Mollie Getzfread, Kayla Wisniewski and Sarah Naylor each contributed a goal for the Colonials.
PW goalie Jordyn Dunacusky had 14 saves.
