BASEBALL
Freshman Keith Moyer (Souderton) came out of the bullpen and collected the second out of the sixth inning in East Stroudsburg’s 7-5 win over West Chester in the first game of Sunday’s twinbill. West Chester won the second game 4-3, but the Warriors won the season series versus the Golden Rams for the first time since 2002. On Saturday, redshirt sophomore Andy Noga (Cheltenham) struck out seven and didn’t walk a batter while earning the win in ESU’s 6-2 win over West Chester in the second game of a doubleheader sweep. Noga allowed just three hits and only one runner to reach second base in the first five innings before the Golden Bears put together a two-run inning in the bottom of the sixth. He went back on the mound and worked a perfect seventh to wrap up his third straight complete game. In three conference starts, Noga is 2-1 with a 1.29 ERA with 16 hits allowed, 20 strikeouts and no walks in 21.0 innings. For the season, Noga is 5-1 with a 1.70 ERA. ESU is ranked third in the NCBWA Division II Atlantic Region baseball poll after holding the top spot for the last two weeks.
Kevin Christy (North Penn) tossed the final 1.2 innings of La Salle’s 10-2 win over Temple in the first game of Sunday’s two-game sweep of the Owls. On Saturday, Jon Gyles (Central Bucks West) doubled and scored a run in La Salle’s 8-6 win over Temple. Teammate Adam Kammler (Pennridge) added a single, and pinch runner Chris Umstead (Pennridge) scored a run. In Wednesday’s 9-7 loss to Villanova in the 2011 Liberty Bell Classic, Eric Kammler (Pennridge) was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored. His two-run home run put the Explorers on top 5-4 in the sixth inning.
Freshman Henry Rosenbloom (Cheltenham) contributed a pair of hits and an RBI and also scored a pair of runs in Penn State Abington’s 13-10 win over Baptist Bible College on Wednesday. Sophomore Tom Boyd (Council Rock South) contributed an RBI single and scored a pair of runs while Michael Corrigan (William Tennent) also contributed an RBI and scored a run. Robert Morak (Abington) pitched a perfect ninth inning to earn the save for the Nittany Lions. In game one of Abington’s sweep of Czaenovia (9-2 and 4-2) on Monday, freshman Will Erskine (North Penn) scored a pair of runs and contributed an RBI while Corrigan contributed an RBI single and scored a run. Morak worked a scoreless inning of relief, fanning one. In game two, senior Kevin Szafranski (Bensalem) contributed an RBI single. Freshman Brian Camp (Cheltenham) worked six innings on the mound, allowing two runs on six hits and striking out five.
Junior rightfielder Eric Blood (Pennridge) contributed four hits and two RBIs in Chestnut Hill’s 18-11 loss to Dominican College in the opener of Saturday’s twinbill. Junior leftfielder Alex Latchum(Central Bucks South) contributed a single and scored a run while senior catcher Andrew Donofry (Hatboro-Horsham) had an RBI single. In Chestnut Hill’s 5-1 loss to West Chester on Monday, Mike Knipe (Pennridge) recorded three of the Griffins’ four hits. He drove in Chestnut Hill’s lone run.
Keith Meyer (Council Rock South) delivered a three-run home run in the seventh inning of Bloomsburg’s 4-3 loss to #12 Millersville on Sunday. He finished the day 2-for-4 with a run scored.  Chris Edgar (North Penn) contributed a base hit for the Marauders, who came back to earn a 2-0 win in game two. On Saturday, Edgar delivered a two-out, bases-loaded single in the sixth inning to give Millersville a 5-4 lead over Bloomsburg in game one of a twinbill. Edgar finished the game – a 6-5 Millersville win – with a pair of hits and RBIs. For Bloomsburg, Meyer delivered a two-run single in the second inning.  In the nightcap, Edgar was 2-for-2 with three RBIs, and he also drew a walk in Millersville 7-2 win. Millersville is ranked No. 1 in this week’s NCBWA Atlantic Region Rankings. Last Tuesday, the Marauders entered the Collegiate Baseball newspaper Division II Poll and the College Baseball Lineup Top 30 Rankings. Millersville moved up eight spots to No. 12 in the NCBWA poll, which is voted on by baseball writers and sports information directors around the country. The Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll, which is voted on by Division II coaches, placed Millersville 26th. College Baseball Lineup picked Millersville at No. 28.
Senior third baseman James Quigley (Bensalem) has been a four-year starter at Kutztown and has been a vital part of a KU squad that has made 10 consecutive postseason appearances. Entering his senior year, Quigley had a career batting average of .343 with 35 doubles and 11 home runs. He was named to the PSAC East first team, ABCA/Rawlings first team and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Atlantic Region honorable mention. MEN’S GOLF
Cabrini freshman Rob Bass (Plymouth Whitemarsh) was ranked 59th over the two-day New York University Manhattanville Invitational.
La Salle freshman Michael Johnson (Hatboro-Horsham) finished 12th with a 76-76=152 (+10) to lead the Explorers at the Penn Quaker Invitational at the Wissahickon Course of the Philadelphia Cricket Club. He had the fourth best average on par fours (4.18) and posted 22 pars (10th overall) and four birdies.
MEN’S LACROSSE
Sophomore midfielder Joe Hughes (Plymouth Whitemarsh) collected five groundballs in No. 17 Cabrini’s 16-6 win over Gwynedd-Mercy on Wednesday.
Heath Kupecky (Upper Merion) contributed a pair of goals in Messiah College’s 11-10 win over Eastern University on Saturday. Matt Mandia (Souderton) had three groundballs for Eastern. In Wednesday’s 15-5 win over DeSales University, Kupecky had three goals and one assist.
Freshman Garrett Rosiek (Wissahickon) scored a pair of goals and contributed four assists in Aurora’s 14-3 win over Hanover College on Saturday. He also was credited with four groundballs. In Wednesday’s 7-6 win over Fontbonne University, Rosiek had three assists and four groundballs.
Sophomore Johnny Casey (Abington) scored the go-ahead goal in Widener’s 6-5 win at Elizabethtown on Saturday.  He also was credited with two groundballs. Widener (7-2, 5-0) is tied for first place in the MAC with Messiah (5-0). In Wednesday’s 21-2 triumph over Manhattanville, Casey scored twice. Freshman Craig Hunsberger (Pennridge) won 17-of-25 faceoffs.
WOMEN’S LACROSSE
Jackie Hoover (Cheltenham) contributed two goals and one assist in No. 7 West Chester’s 21-5 win over Edinboro on Saturday.
Lauren McDermott (North Penn) scored a pair of goals in La Salle’s 15-4 loss to Richmond on Friday.
Rachel Dirksen (Abington) scored two goals and also contributed three groundballs and two draw controls in Messiah College’s 19-0 win over Arcadia University on Wednesday. Teammate Rachel Coyle (Souderton) had six draw controls and five ground balls as well as one assist.
Senior Michelle Mangiaruga (North Penn) set a career-high for points for the second straight game, recording five goals and four assists to lead East Stroudsburg to a 17-10 win over Shippensburg on Saturday afternoon. She also had four groundballs. Junior Ali Green (North Penn) added a single goal. For Shippensburg, senior Karen Schnurr (Central Bucks South) contributed the hat trick. In Wednesday’s 8-6 overtime win over No. 13 Bloomsburg, Schnurr scored a pair of goals and contributed an assist.
Mangiaruga had a hand in half of East Stroudsburg’s goals in Wednesday’s 16-9 win at Millersville, contributing five goals and three assists. Her twin sister, Morgan Mangiaruga (North Penn), scored a goal for Millersville. Michelle will finish her career with 14 goals and four assists in three games at Millersville. She did not play at Millersville in 2008 due to injury. Green also scored a goal. Kelsey Schmoltze (Upper Moreland) had a pair of goals for Millersville.
Freshman Aubrey Bossert (Wissahickon) contributed three groundballs and one turnover caused in Bloomsburg’s 13-3 win over Millersville on Saturday. For the Marauders, Schmoltze contributed a goal, and two groundballs while teammate Haggerty and Morgan Mangiaruga both also had two groundballs. Haggerty was credited with 10 saves in goal.
Bernadette Maher (Council Rock North) contributed two goals, four draw controls, two groundballs and two caused turnovers in American University’s 10-9 win over Lafayette on Saturday. In Tuesday night’s triple overtime loss to George Mason, Maher scored two goals while teammate Emily Maher (Pennridge) recorded three groundballs.
Kendall Rood (Central Bucks East) contributed a goal and two assists in Eastern University’s 21-2 win over Wilkes University on Saturday.
Kirsten Walther (Souderton) scored two goals in Gwynedd-Mercy’s 19-8 win over Immaculata on Saturday. It was the Griffins’ sixth straight win. In Gwynedd’s 11-10 win over Cabrini on Tuesday, Jenna D’Arcy (Hatboro-Horsham) contributed the hat trick while Colleen Dellostretto (Upper Moreland) added a goal.
Senior attack Lindsey Urban (Central Bucks East) scored two goals in Ursinus College’s 11-9 loss to seventh-ranked Franklin & Marshall on Wednesday. Sophomore midfielder Elizabeth Chatburn (Upper Dublin) added a single goal. In Saturday’s 14-7 loss to sixth-ranked Gettysburg, sophomore goalkeeper Jackie Kimmel (Hatboro-Horsham) made four saves in the second half.
Freshman attack Kellie Manopello (Upper Merion) contributed a goal, three groundballs and two draw control’s in Cabrini’s 15-14 win over Marywood on Saturday. In Cabrini’s 16-11 loss to Scranton on Thursday, Manopello had a goal and an assist as well as five draw controls.
Freshman Lindsay Walbrandt (Souderton) had a goal and an assist as well as two draw controls in No. 2 Lock Haven’s 17-1 win over No. 9 Mercyhurst on Saturday.  In Wednesday’s 12-8 win over No. 11 Gannon University, Walbrandt contributed one goal and one draw control. Lock Haven is behind only Adelphi in the most recent IWLCA Division II poll. The Lady Eagles are 10-0 on the season.
Walbrandt was named the Synapse Sports Division II National Rookie of the Week for her efforts on the field last week that saw Lock Haven go 3-0. Included in those wins was a 12-7 win over No. 8 Rollins. Walbrandt had five goals and one assist in the three-game span. She also had seven groundballs and five draw controls. In a 17-3 win over Edinboro, Walbrandt netted a hat trick to lead the Lady Eagles.
Kelly McKay (Pennridge) contributed five goals and two assists in Chestnut Hill’s 27-15 win over Post on Saturday.
Sophomore Alex Taratuski (Hatboro-Horsham) contributed a goal in Widener’s 18-5 loss to No. 17 Elizabethtown on Saturday.
MEN’S SOCCER
Marywood University sophomore Ryan Jones (Council Rock South) has been named to the Jewish Sports Review’s 2010 Men’s Soccer All-American Team, which was announced in the January/February issue of the Review. One of just 13 players from NCAA Divisions II and II to be named to the squad, Jones earned his second straight JSR All-America honor following an outstanding sophomore campaign. Jones helped lead the Pacers to a program-record 14 wins and their first-ever appearance in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) championship game. A First Team All-Conference selection for the second straight year, Jones helped anchor a stingy Pacers’ defense that posted a goals against average of 1.03 for the season and set a program record with 10 shutouts. Playing primarily as a central defender, Jones was also a key contributor to Marywood’s attack, ranking third on the team’s scoring chart with 17 points on two goals and a team-best 13 assists. Jones set a program record for assists in a season this year while finishing the season tied for sixth in the nation in helpers. After just two seasons in a Pacers’ uniform, Jones has already doubled the former career assists record, which the sophomore now holds with 18 career assists. In addition to his First Team All-Conference selection, Jones became the first Marywood men’s soccer player to earn NSCAA All-Region honors after being named to the Second Team and was also named an ECAC All-Star. Marywood finished the 2010 season with a 14-5-1 overall record and earned its first-ever berth into the ECAC South Region Tournament during its historic 2010 season.
SOFTBALL
Beth Everist (North Penn) contributed her fourth home run of the year and three RBIS in Mount Saint Mary’s twinbill against Long Island on Saturday. The Mount dropped both games, falling in the first 7-4 and losing the nightcap 5-3. Everist contributed a two-run homer in the first inning of game one and is in second place on the program’s all-time career home run list and has moved to within two homers of the program record of 18. Teammate Courtney Zingle (Hatboro-Horsham) had an RBI single in game two and moved into fifth place for total bases (190) while Everist jumped into eighth place (164) in that category. Amanda Sadowl (Hatboro-Horsham) absorbed the loss on the mound in game two.
Junior third baseman Rachel Gieringer (Hatboro-Horsham) contributed an RBI double in East Stroudsburg’s 3-2 win over West Chester in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday. She was 2-for-4 with a home run in the second game of the twinbill, a 6-1 loss.
Senior Moira Johnsen (Council Rock North) contributed a two-out RBI single in the third inning of Shippensburg’s 4-1 win over West Chester in the second game of a twinbill on Saturday. Shippensburg fell in the first game 9-1.
Sophomore Tegan Wendell (Abington) and freshman Stephanie Farrar (North Penn) each contributed home runs in Gwynedd-Mercy’s 7-3 win over Cabrini in eight innings on Saturday. Farrar finished the game a perfect 3-for-3 while Wendell had a game-high four RBIs, and her grand slam put Gwynedd ahead in the eighth inning. The Griffins dropped game one of the twinbill 1-0 on Saturday. In Friday’s 12-4 loss to Centenary, Farrar contributed a two-run triple. In Gwynedd’s 10-5 loss to Marywood last Sunday, both Wendell and Farrar drove in two runs.
Senior Ashley McCarthy (Norristown) contributed a pair of hits in Arcadia’s doubleheader sweep of Delaware Valley College on Friday. The Knights won game one 8-3 and game two by a 3-0 score. In Arcadia’s sweep of Alvernia on Tuesday (6-3 & 6-5), McCarthy had a hit in each game.
Deanna Dungee (North Penn) hit a two-out RBI double in the fifth inning of Alvernia’s 4-2 loss to DeSales on Thursday. In Saturday’s 5-3 loss to Elizabethtown, Dungee worked five scoreless innings in relief, striking out six.
Alicia Hughes (Quakertown) earned the win on the mound in Millersville’s 4-2 win over No. 25 Kutztown on Saturday, allowing eight hits and walking just one. Teammate Deanna Schneiderreit (William Tennnet) contributed a hit and scored a run. In Kutztown’s 10-7 win in game one, Schneiderreit contributed a pair of hits, including a double, as well as one RBI and one run scored. Hughes picked up a pinch hit single.
Heather Hannum (Hatboro-Horsham) was 1-for-3 in Kutztown’s 6-1 loss to California University (Pa.) on Saturday. Kutztown, ranked fourth in the second NCAA Division II Atlantic Rankings last week, won the finale 4-3 to earn the doubleheader split.  
Senior Jackie Waddle (Neshaminy) contributed a two-run single in the second inning in Goldey-Beacom’s 6-5 win over Philadelphia University in the first game of Wednesday’s twinbill. She had a pair of hits in the game. GBC fell in the second game 12-4.  
IUP’s Dee Eppinger (North Penn) was named PSAC Central Player of the Week for the week ending April 4. She helped lead IUP to a 3-1 record with a doubleheader sweep of Clarion and a split with Lock Haven. She hit .538 (7-for-13) including a pair of doubles and two home runs, scored three runs and drove in six and had a 1.154 slugging percentage. In the opener against Clarion, Eppinger belted both of her doubles and followed that with a three-run home run in a 4-2 Crimson Hawk win. Eppinger also homered in the first game against Lock Haven. She is hitting .254 on the season with 12 runs scored, 18 RBIs, three home runs and has drawn 10 walks.
Senior Erin Holloway (Souderton) struck out three and walked one in a one and a third innings of relief in IUP’s 12-5 win over Mansfield on Saturday. The senior hurler lost for just the second time this season in IUP’s 6-4 loss to Mansfield in the opener of the twinbill, allowing five earned runs with six strikeouts and only two walks. Freshman third baseman Mary Ward (North Penn) was 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored while Eppinger contributed a hit and one RBI and also scored a run. In IUP’s split with No. 7 Bloomsburg on Thursday, Holloway picked up the win in the Crimson Hawks’ 3-2 win over the Huskies to improve to 14-1 on the season. She allowed two earned runs on four hits while striking out three and walking two.
Shari Lynne Kluth (Norristown) tied a season-high with three RBIs in Penn State Berks’ 18-0 win over Gallaudet University in the opening game of a doubleheader on Saturday. Teammate Dayna Harrison (Pennsbury) contributed an RBI single that plated a run. Berks fell in game two 8-3. In Berks’ 7-3 win over Gallaudet last Sunday, Kluth collected a pair of hits and scored two runs. Berks swept the doubleheader, winning game one 18-5.
MEN’S TENNIS
Tyler Pultro (Central Bucks West) earned a 7-5, 6-4 win at sixth singles in Bloomsburg’s 6-3 win over Mercyhurst on Sunday. On Saturday, Lee Wexler (Plymouth Whitemarsh) earned a 6-2, 6-3 win at fourth singles in Bloomsburg’s 8-1 win over East Stroudsburg. Wexler was also part of the Huskies’ third doubles team that earned an 8-5 win. Pultro was part of Bloomsburg’s second doubles team that fell 8-4. In Monday’s 6-3 win over Millersville, Wexler won 7-6, 10-8 in the tiebreaker, at four singles. Pultro earned a 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 win at six singles.
WOMEN’S TENNIS
Senior Sarah Doherty (William Tennent) and sophomore Regina Doherty (William Tennent) were victorious at number two doubles in Chestnut Hill’s 9-0 win over Cheyney on Wednesday. Sarah also earned a 6-0, 6-0 win at third singles while Regina duplicated that feat at number four singles.
MEN’S TRACK & FIELD
Ursinus College’s Sam Stortz (Upper Dublin) was second in the 10K with a time of 33:12.13 at Saturday’s West Chester Invitational.
Millersville junior Zac Kohler (Pennridge) ended day one of the decathlon with the lead at Saturday's Millersville Metrics and never surrendered it as he took first place in the event on Sunday afternoon. Kohler dominated the competition with top five finishes in nine of the 10 events. He took first place in both the high jump and 1,500-meter run. In the high jump, he reached 1.93 meters then ran the 1,500-meter run in a time of 4:46.62. Four second place finishes helped Kohler reach his final total of 6,049 points to take first in the competition. He is now ranked fifth all-time in Millersville history in the outdoor decathlon.
Millersville's Keith Ogden (Cheltenham) finished second in the 400-meter hurdles with a PSAC qualifying  time of 54.55 at Saturday’s Millersville Metrics. Ogden has now qualified in four different events. Seth Hibbs (Hatboro-Horsham) took 12th out of 41 runners in the 800-meter run in a time of 1:58. 27 to just make the mark to earn a PSAC qualifying time.   
Elizabethtown’s Luke Rotenberger (Quakertown) and Matt Seeley (Souderton) were named to the MAC Winter Academic Honor Roll Selections, representing the indoor track and field team. The honor roll is comprised of student-athletes of sophomore class standing or higher who participated in a varsity level sport and registered a cumulative GPA of 3.20 (4.00 scale) or higher and completed the playing season in good standing.
WOMEN’S TRACK & FIELD
Junior Amy Schaefer (Central Bucks East) finished third in the pole vault with a jump of 9-10 at Saturday’s West Chester Invitational. Last Saturday, Schaefer was second in the pole vault at 10 feet even at the Danny Curran Invitational hosted by Widener University.
Vanita Moses (Neshaminy) finished first in the hammer throw to lead the Lock Haven outdoor track and field team at the Millersville Metrics on Saturday. Moses won with a mark of 161-8.
Millersville’s Megan Meyer (Central Bucks South) finished sixth in the 800-meter run with a PSAC qualifying time of 2:19.32 at the Millersville Metrics on Saturday.
