Conestoga 13, North Penn 12
The Maidens rallied from a 9-5 halftime deficit to knot the score only to watch the game slip away when Conestoga’s Megan McGillis scored the game winner with 1:42 remaining in regulation. The loss was the first of the season for the Maidens, who fell to 7-1 overall.
Brenda McDermott led the Maidens with five goals and four draw controls. Rachel Shaw added three goals and one assist. Garrie Grenfell and Macie Hauck (one assist) both contributed single goals to close out the scoring for the Maidens.
Sophomore Jenna Stover turned away seven shots in goal for the Maidens, who held a 29-23 advantage in shots.
Souderton 18, Council Rock South 8
Carly Kendall scored four goals while teammates Kirstin Russell and Alyssa Ziegler both connected for the hat trick. Russell also had a pair of assists. Liz Mower added two goals and four assists. Danielle Notvest (two assists) and Sydney Niles each contributed a pair of goals as well. Melinda Wojt, Gabby McAndrews and Carly Anderson each had one goal.
Souderton, according to coach Nicole Bauer, pulled ahead in the second half with excellent passing combinations and double teams throughout the field.
"It was a great team effort by all!" she said.
For the Golden Hawks, Leanne Hurley and Becca Cocco led the way with two goals each. Meg Sheehy, Christine Besselman, Gabi Rosenfeld and Cara Deola each added single goals.
Rock South goalie Taylor Hurwitz turned away 12 shots while Souderton’s Kaitlyn Crouthamel had 15 saves.
Pennsbury 15, Conwell Egan 1
Kelsy Gumbert scored four goals while teammate Elle Fagan added the hat trick to lead the Falcons. Becca Radzinski and Liz Cowley both contributed a pair of goals, and Taylor Hickman, Dana Reilley and Joy Hopkins each had one goal.
Pennsbury goalie Liana Eyre turned away eight shots while Egan’s Makenzie McNulty turned away 13 shots.
