Upper Dublin 3, Central Bucks South 0 (27-25, 25-15, 25-17)
The Flying Cardinals picked up their first win in seven outings when they traveled to Central Bucks South on Wednesday night.
“The boys were able to bring it all together tonight and play a solid (match) in all aspects of the game – serving, passing, hitting and defense,” coach Matt Ehlers said.
The Cardinals, according to Ehlers, combined for 38 points off serve, including six aces.
“Our passing off of serve was much improved tonight and allowed our setters to deliver the ball more effectively and spread the ball out to various hitters,” Ehlers said.
Defensively, the Cardinals combined for 33 digs, and their hitters delivered 28 kills and six blocks. Jordan Walden and Dror Baraket let the way at the net with 10 kills each.
“The ball was spread around effectively tonight with 11 different players contributing,” Ehlers said.
Walden also led the defense with eight digs, and Baraket also had eight service points and four aces. Senior Curtis Carter delivered three blocks in the middle while Brian Day added two and Avery Jackson, one block. Senior Jon Lee led the team serving with 11 points while Jon Lee had seven digs.
Senior Dave An was credited with 21 assists, and junior Brian Shim had six assists in the third and final game.
The Flying Cardinals are 1-5 in league play (1-6 overall).
Council Rock North 3, Council Rock South 0 (25-13, 25-11, 25-17)
The streaking Indians continued to roll with a sweep of the Golden Hawks to improve to 4-0 in SOL play. Dan Ford had 19 assists, seven kills and 10 digs to lead the Indians while John Whitman had 16 assists, five kills and seven digs. Ryan Garven had 12 kills and 13 digs, and Hunter Stevens had eight kills. Chris Richards added 13 digs and Christian Kiselica, 11 digs. Garrison Lovely contributed seven kills.
Souderton 3, Central Bucks East 1 (25-22, 27-25, 24-26, 26-24)
It wasn’t easy, but the Indians emerged with a hard-fought 3-1 win over the Patriots. Cody Leatherman, Chris Kluka and Trevor Bishop had huge games at the net for the Indians. Leatherman contributed 16 kills to go along with five aces while Kluka also had 16 kills and two blocks. Bishop had 14 kills and four aces. Senior Christian Benner led the defense with 17 digs.
North Penn 3, Quakertown 1 (23-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-23)
The Panthers were led at the net by Ian Jones with 11 kills while Zach Morgan added eight. Nate Stout had 30 assists.
