SuburbanOneSports.com recognizes a male and female featured athlete each week. The awards, sponsored by Univest, are given to seniors of good character who are students in good standing that have made significant contributions to their teams. Selections are based on nominations received from coaches, athletic directors and administrators.

Emily Towey has been outstanding in goal for Abington the past two seasons. “One thing with goalies is key – they have to be competitive,” coach Chris Aquilino said. “They also have to be athletic. A lot of her saves are purely athletic. She looks like a goalie. It’s not like she’s one of those kids out there throwing their arms around. She can step to the ball, and her fundamentals are good.” Towey was a natural in the cage from the outset, and it is her quickness that sets her apart.
The senior captain has assumed a leadership role on this year’s young and inexperienced squad and helped keep the team together when fellow captain Molly Seefried was sidelined for several weeks. “Emily has been unbelievable for us,” Aquilino said. “Some of the games we’ve lost – (without her), the numbers could have been so terrible that you wouldn’t have been able to imagine.”
Towey was recruited by both Division I and Division II schools. She opted instead to play Division III lacrosse at the University of Scranton where she will major in secondary education with a minor in math. “I realized I don’t want to make lacrosse my life,” Towey said. “I just want to make it part of my life in college. College is where you start your future. I figure if I play D-3, I’ll still get the full experience of being an athlete, but I’ll also get the social aspect, and I can spend more time studying and things like that.”
Last fall, Towey played field hockey for the first time, and by the second game of the season, she had earned a starting position in the backfield.
Away from the sporting field, Towey, a member of the National Honor Society, is an excellent student. She also is active in community service, and for three straight years, she has received the Presidential Bronze Service Award given in recognition of 100 hours of community service.

Mike Tentilucci embodies the best in today’s youth. The Council Rock North senior is that player a coach can’t do without, that student every teacher wants in his class, that unselfish person who thinks of others first, and that kid you’d like your son to be. “He’s just one of those kids that does for everybody, just for the greater good of doing it,” varsity baseball coach Matt Schram said. “What a great role model. He’s not caught up in the hype. He just does what he’s supposed to do.”
Tentilucci has been the starting centerfielder for the Indians for the past two years. As a leadoff hitter, he finds a way to get on base one way or another. “He’s probably one of the fastest guys on the field,” Schram said. “He has probably one of the best arms on the field. He’s a phenomenal outfielder, and he’s involved in every positive activity on the baseball field, whether it’s scoring a run, hitting a home run, getting an RBI, getting on base, stealing a base, whatever it may be. He’s so smart out there; it’s like having a coach play for you.”
An outstanding student who is president of his senior class, Tentilucci is a member of both the National Honor Society and the Science Honor Society. He also sings bass in the school choir and was selected as one of 16 to sing in a new a capella group. Next year Tentilucci will be attending Haverford College where he plans on playing baseball. He is undecided on a major.
