What was the progression that led you to signing a letter of intent to play lacrosse at Holy Family? “(Classmate) Kimber Kisselback was talking to the lacrosse coaches, and her dad actually mentioned my name to the coach. They came and watched one of our games, and she noticed me. We started e-mailing, and I visited the school and met with the coach.
“This just happened last week. Before that, I was going down the road of going to Bucks County Community College, and I was thinking of coaching on the side for Lower Bucks or something like that because I know our program needs help.
“I wanted to play lacrosse in college, but I didn’t know because of our record if I would get looked at. I kind of thought my lacrosse career was over. I never knew I could take it to the next level. I always knew I wanted to continue with lacrosse. I just didn’t know I would be able to play in college. I’m really excited. It’s awesome.”
Coach Gina Quaranta says: “Caitlin was a definite leader and big motivator, leading by example and leading by her words to her teammates. She really helped bring the team together. Especially in a situation where we were down goals or we were up goals – she always knew the right mentality to have. My favorite thing was just the way she led by example. She was somebody the other girls could always count on. We never hesitated to use her or to run a play for her. She broke the school record for Neshaminy girls’ lacrosse for goals in a season (with 37 goals), and we could always count on her to be consistent with her skills.
“Caitlin receiving a lacrosse scholarship is a huge deal for our program. It’s something that I think especially girls that play other sports – it’s something that can keep them focused on the fact that we are trying to make this sport the real deal and something exciting and that there is a future for them in lacrosse even though they might not play until their freshman year.
“Caitlin has played lacrosse since she was very young, but myself and my assistant coach – we both were interested in other sports, and we didn’t start playing lacrosse until our freshman year in high school, and we both went on to play in college. Lacrosse is something very exciting that can give the girls great opportunities. We want them to have the great opportunities that we had in high school and college. We look back and have good memories and want that same thing for our girls as well.”
