ABINGTON CROSS COUNTRY PREVIEW
Head Coach: Brian Deck (4th Season)
Last Year’s Record:2-4
Key Losses:Eleazar Cardoso, Jake Rasmussen, Bryan Murphy
Key Returnees:Seniors - Kyle Moran, Tevin Smith Juniors: John Hartsough
Others to Watch:Juniors: David Slade, Ben Goldblatt, Grant Schwoebel Soph: Christian Goode, Danny Shea Freshmen: Jabari Freemen, Justin Stokes.
Strengths:“We have two very strong front runners in Moran and Hartsough with a great pack of young runners that have really developed since last October. We also have two extremely solid freshmen that could make an immediate impact this season but will be brought along slowly especially one who is an 800 runner and will make a huge impact for our program on the track.”
Question Marks: “Health: last year our number 1,2,4,5,7 runners were hurt the entire season. We actually never really had a XC season last year. The boys were extremely frustrated with all the injuries, so the key is to hopefully remain healthy. We only have two seniors on the team and both are middle distance runners. We have a really strong group of juniors, sophomores, and freshmen that really have developed a lot in the past nine months and continue to get better. How far along in their development is the key are they ready to compete with the ROCKS.”
Outlook:“If we can remain healthy the entire season, we could be good enough to give Rock North and Rock South a challenge for the league titles. Rock North is the team to beat but we think our young boys have really developed a lot and are ready to make an impact.”
