Souderton Volleyball - Boys Preview (2010-2011)

SOUDERTON BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL PREVIEW

Coach:  Brad Garrett (4th Season)

Asst. Coaches: Dan Stover, Nick Rosato

Last year’s record: 15 – 3 (13 – 3 League), 3rd Place District One Tournament; Lost in first round of PIAA state tournament to Central York.

Key losses: Luke Pinto (OH), Jake Shoemaker (OH), Jeff Bishop (MH), AJ Androkites (Opp)

Key returnees: Seniors – Christian Benner (Libero), Alex Long (Setter), Trevor Bishop (OH), Cody Leatherman (OH), Zach Clemmer (Opp); Juniors – Chris Kluka (OH/MH), Gabe Clemmer (OH/Opp)

Others to watch: Senior – Mike Borrelli (MH); Junior – Luke Burns (S/DS); Sophomore – Ryan Davison (MH)

Strengths: The 2011 squad returns seven players from last year’s state qualifying team. There is tremendous depth at each position and a good bit of experience from the post-season run last year.

Question marks: Many of last year’s role players are going to be required to step up into main positions this year. It should be interesting to see how these players respond to the pressure and how they mesh as a team. Few of these players played on club teams this winter so they will need to get acclimated to one another immediately.

Outlook: This team has talent and experience. If each player accepts his role and contributes to the team in the best way he can, Souderton should once again contend for a league championship.
