PENNSBURY 3, COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 0 (25-19, 25-17 25-16)

Olivia Aizen served the final seven points of game three, propelling the Falcons to a sweep of the defending conference champion Indians on Tuesday night.

“We did win 3-0, but it was by no means in the bag until Olivia Aizen was serving at the end,” Falcon coach Tim Paulson said. “She just served them off the court.”

Serving has been key in a week that saw the Falcons roll to three straight wins. In Monday night’s match against Neshaminy, the Falcons had 23 serving errors and were extended to four games by the feisty Redskins. In a marked contrast one day later, the Falcons had just six serving errors in an impressive 3-1 win over Mount St. Joseph Academy.

“I came into that match against Mount St. Joe’s thinking, ‘I hope we’re competitive. I hope we score 20, and we’re in every game,’” Paulson said of Tuesday’s match against the perennial Catholic Academies League power. “They lost their setter and a really good middle from last year, but if we served like we did on Monday night, we lose that match at Mount St. Joe’s, and if we serve like tonight, it’s a real battle, but we really put together a serving game, and everything else helps too.

“Tonight our serving was so-so until Aizen. She’s an amazing server. Last year, as a sophomore, she would go in and serve and come out, and she was our best server.”

Aizen also contributed six kills. Kelsey Moulton led the Falcons at the net with seven kills to go along with four digs. Audrey Stringer had five kills while Lauren Pisauro had three kills to go along with a team-high 11 digs.

The Falcons were battling some injuries in Thursday’s match. Jae Jackson saw action in just one game, and another regular was battling the flu. A pair of newcomers – Sarah Sweetland and Cara Reilly – stepped in and contributed. Reilly had three kills and Sweetland, two kills.

Junior setter Paige Misawic was credited with 21 assists.

“Paige continues to work hard and is improving every day,” Paulson said. “Everyone played well and worked together.”
