Central Bucks West 2, Pennridge 1
Central Bucks West capped off a stretch of six games in eight days (including a 1-1 double-overtime draw with Quakertown on Tuesday) with a 2-1 win over Pennridge in Wednesday's Continental Conference matchup.
Mike Bamford assisted on both Bucks’ goals and, along with Matt Earnst, kept the team intense and focused. Bryan Werner opened the scoring in the third minute. Bobby Tate tied the game for Pennridge off an assist from Michael Gaito, then Bamford set up Jared Kelly in the 73rd minute for what would stand as the winning tally. Goalkeeper Redd Brown made five saves for the Bucks.
"We've struggled with finishing all year," said West coach Steve Detweiler. "This is still a young team. But they held their focus today, and I think the boys were very happy with this after that long stretch of games we went through."
Hatboro-Horsham 3, Central Bucks South 2 (2 OT)
Central Bucks South scored first and tied the game late in regulation, but Hatboro-Horsham earned the hard-fought victory in the extra session in Wednesday's Continental Conference matchup.
Jarod Meyer (Todd Rainey assist) put the Titans ahead in the sixth minute, but the Hatters tied the score in the 21st on a goal by Ryan Smith (Ryan New assist). Chris Russomono scored (New assist) in the 62nd minute to give the Hatters the advantage, but South knotted the score in the 78th minute on a Stephen Pieri tally.
In the second overtime period, Phil Torresani (Sean Canepa assist) won it for the Hatters.
Souderton 1, North Penn 1 (2 OT)
Souderton and North Penn battled through two halves and two extra frames and came out even in Wednesday's Continental Conference matchup.
After the teams battled through a scoreless first half, Matt Robinson put North Penn on the board on a penalty kick. But Souderton responded with eight minutes left in regulation when Jeff Wolf scored on Ryan Molyneaux's corner kick to tie the game.
"I thought we had the better of the play today," said North Penn coach Paul Duddy, whose squad remains undefeated at 6-0-1 overall, 4-0-1 in league play). "Souderton's keeper (Tyler Afflerbach) played great today. We had some chances to score and we didn't, and it came back to haunt us."
With the tie, Souderton moves to 3-2-1, 1-2-1.
Neshaminy 2, Harry S Truman 1
Dave Schaefer and Austin Transue each scored once as Neshaminy remained undefeated (5-0 overall, 4-0 in National Conference play) with a victory over league opponent Harry S Truman on Wednesday.
Schaefer put the Redskins on the board in the first half, while Transue's goal broke the 1-1 tie.
Austin Brotman and Chris Watson shared goalkeeping duties for Neshaminy.
"We had a really good start to the game, but we hit two crossbars, missed a couple wide," said Neshaminy coach Rich Reice. "But we played a well. And Truman played a very good game. Their kids gave a really good effort."
Pennsbury 2, Council Rock South 0
Evan Caterson scored a goal and contributed an assist as Pennsbury remained undefeated (5-0-1 overall, 4-0-1 in the league) with a 2-0 win over Council Rock South in Wednesday evening's National Conference matchup.
Caterson assisted on Matt Montgomery's score 15 minutes into the first half, then added a goal of his own (Ross Dugan assist) late in the first half.
"We got off to a good start," said Pennsbury coach Tom Stoddart. "We held the ball and I thought we controlled most of the game."
Pat Lesingi made four saves and Aaron Bell made one save to record the shutout for Pennsbury.
Upper Moreland 3, Cheltenham 0
Upper Moreland led 2-0 at halftime of its victory over Cheltenham in Wednesday's American Conference game.
"We had a breakdown midway through the first half and they scored two goals in about two minutes," said Cheltenham coach Chuck Gesing. "We made the same mistake in the second half and they took advantage of it."
Brian Henstenburg played a solid game in goal for the Panthers.
Plymouth Whitemarsh 2, Upper Merion 0
Plymouth Whitemarsh scored a pair of second-half goals to pull away from Upper Merion in Wednesday's American Conference game. Kevin Hennessy (Mike Banerjee assist) and Ian McDade (Joeb Hunter assist) scored for the Colonials, who improve to 6-2 overall (4-1 in conference play).
"We had shots galore, we're continuing to struggle putting these game away sooner," said PW coach Devon Landgraff. "Defensively, I couldn't be more proud. This is our fifth shutout this year. We keep shutting teams down, we just need to keep working on finishing on offense."
Wissahickon 2, Upper Dublin 1
Dan Matthews scored two second-half goals -- in the 64th and 68th minutes -- to lift Wissahickon past neighborhood rival Upper Dublin in Wednesday's American Conference clash. Joe Farrell and Nick Nikic recorded assists on Matthews' goals.
Wissahickon keeper Neal Guaglinone made eight saves in the shutout. Upper Dublin's Parker Schroeder made three saves.
Abington 3, William Tennent 2
Freshman Matt Tracey scored his first varsity goal, and Isaac Pitkow and Kyle Rocks each added one as Abington topped National Conference foe William Tennent on Wednesday.
Council Rock North 2, Bensalem 0
Derek Antonini scored both Council Rock North goals as the Indians downed Bensalem in Wednesday's National Conference game.

Council Rock North 8, Bensalem 1
Coach Larry Sullivan knew that, coming off its biggest win of the season (a 1-0 victory over archrival and district power Central Bucks South), the Council Rock North girls soccer team was susceptible to a letdown in Wednesday's game against Bensalem.
"They came in still celebrating Monday," Sullivan said.
After the Indians brought a 2-1 lead into the half, Sullivan let them know how he felt about their efforts.
"At halftime I told them that this was going to happen," Sullivan said. "I ripped them ... nicely, but I ripped them."
And the Indians responded ... in a big way, pouring in six second-half goals to roll to an 8-1 win to remain undefeated on the season.
With Kaitlyn McNamara moving up from the defense to help out the offense, the Indians quickly took control of the game after the break.
"That changed everything," Sullivan said "That changed the flow of the game. McNamara gave us what we needed in the second half. She's the kind of player that, wherever you put her, she's going to get the job done."
Karina Kovalcik scored twice for North, which also received goals from Caitlin Hannigan, McNamara, Sarah Scheidell, Juliah Wexler, Helena Gemmell and Hannah Kruman. Wexler also added two assists on the day.
Sullivan also credited the strong play of Helena Gemmell, Alex Hoffman and Sarah Cannnon.
Central Bucks East 2, Quakertown 1
Central Bucks East jumped out to a 1-0 halftime lead and held a 2-0 advantage early in the second half en route to a 2-1 win over Quakertown in Wednesday's Continental Conference game. Nicole Panella (Taylor Mysza assist) put the Patriots on the board first in the 24th minute. East added a goal by Abby Emmert (Ali Woloshyn and Annie Axenroth assists) in the 42nd minute. Quakertown trimmed the lead to 2-1 on Shannon Gibat's tally in the 59th minute.
Pennridge 2, Central Bucks West 0
Natalia Pinkney (Shannon Chynoweth assist) and Kristin Rosato (Julia Rufe and Chynoweth assists) scored, and Ashley Schoellkopf recorded the shutout in goal as Pennridge remained tied atop the Continental Conference with a 2-0 win over Central Bucks West on Wednesday.
The Rams improve to 7-1 on the season, 5-1 in league play. West falls to 2-6, 2-4.
Neshaminy 8, Harry S Truman 0
Megan Schafer scored three goals and added an assist as Neshaminy topped Harry S Truman in Wednesday's National Conference matchup.
Jess Kelly scored twice and Hannah Denis, Katie Suchodolski and Amy Mandia added solo tallies. Jessica Stecklein recorded two assists and Fran Donato, Jamie Mason, Hannah Sufrin and Schafer each added one.
McKenna Mullin posted the shutout in goal for the Redskins.
North Penn 5, Souderton 1
North Penn kept Souderton winless in the Continental Conference, jumping out to a 3-0 halftime lead en route to a 5-1 victory on Wednesday.
Katie Miller (Lauren Williams assist) put the Maidens on the board in the fifth minute. Ashley Vaitis (Allie Smith assist) made it 2-0 just more than a minute later. Smith then set up Vaitis again in the 17th minute to give the Maidens a 3-0 lead.
Grace Miorelli netted Souderton's lone goal in the 45th minute, but North Penn answered in the 64th minute with a goal by Danielle Prestifilippo (Williams assist), then Williams capped off her three-point afternoon with a goal of her own in the 68th minute.
North Penn outshot the Big Red, 14-2. Laura Leonard and Maura King split time in goal for the Maidens, recording one save. Jaclyn Parry turned aside nine shots for Souderton.
Cheltenham 4, Upper Moreland 2
Sloane Macklin, Marissa Gorman, Emily Leibovitz and Kelly Rickard each scored one goal as Cheltenham doubled up Upper Moreland in Wednesday's American Conference matchup.
Central Bucks South 2, Hatboro-Horsham 0
Central Bucks South topped Hatboro-Horsham, 2-0, in a key Continental Conference matchup on Wednesday. South improves to 5-3 overall, 4-2 in the league. The Hatters fall to 5-2, 4-2.
Council Rock South 3, Pennsbury 1
Paula Jurewicz scored three goals to lift Council Rock South to a 3-1 victory over National Conference opponent Pennsbury on Wednesday. Liz Eagan held Pennsbury to one goal in the net for the Golden Hawks.
Plymouth Whitemarsh 3, Upper Merion 0
Plymouth Whitemarsh remained undefeated by downing Upper Merion 3-0 on Wednesday. The Colonials improve to 5-0 overall and in American Conference play. Upper Merion falls to 0-3-1, 0-3-1.

Upper Dublin downed neighborhood rival Wissahickon 5-1 in Wednesday's American Conference matchup.
